Title: FedCon USA Closes Abruptly in Dallas.
Post by: texasstooge on June 17, 2008, 08:08:24 PM
SAD NEWS (to some): FedCon USA, the most highly anticipated convention that opened in Dallas, Texas that was attended by the 10s; has come to an end after a respectable one-day run.

To those who don't know what FedCon is, it's a highly successful sci-fi/fantasy convention that originated from Germany in 1992, originally called "Federation Convention". A similar organization named FedCon USA started their convention on Friday June 13, but there were some snags along the way. FedCon USA died on the vine after a few first hours the next day due to low attendance and disorganization. Attendees are getting refunds as we speak.

According to info on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FedCon) and on TrekToday.com, FedCon Germany disassociated themselves from FedCon USA on January 2008.

Although me and my family never went to FedCon USA over the weekend, we went ahead and ordered a couple "F(crossed out)DEDCON USA" T-shirts.

In response to this...travesty...someone has written the spoof of the "Star Trek: Enterprise" theme ("Faith Of The Heart") and called it "Epic Fail Con".

Additional, this is not to be confused with long-time Sci-Fi convention FenCon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FenCon).
