I'm just interested. What are your favorite graphics/music packages for a newscast? It can be for any one at a local or national, or international level, past or present. Or maybe you just like the set.
I may be biased when saying this, but I love the ones Univision uses for its local and national newscast, especially the latter. And I really like the package used for my local NBC station (I think it's used on other O&Os as well). My personal favorite opener would be the one for The Situation Room.

I'll start off on a local level and work my way up with some old school stuff, all of these are from the 90s and 2000.
Old School Videos
WSB TV News at 6pm Open 11-21-1995 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMmFvZsGpdg#)
WXIA-WSB-WXIA 1991 Opens (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECdROmIsMAo#)
WAGA-TV (This was before they switched from CBS to FOX which they did 7 months later the same year)
WAGA Eyewintess News at 6:00pm Open (5/23/94) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRSOx5Zudbo#)
I posted this before in the FP, but man I cannot get enough of the green set! I really like it, too bad it didn't last long, I guess it was just too far ahead of it's time.

I don't really watch national news, so all of my choices will be local.

Ah. Raycom graphics. They look good. WAVE 3 uses them.
I like WKYT's graphics:

My favorite national graphics package is probably MSNBC. They're simple, high-tech and sleek.

I wish our NBC affiliate had a graphics package like this, anything would be better than what they have now.

My local CBS station "Live 5 News" uses what your WMC-TV does and my local NBC station "Count on 2" uses what WKRG uses. I really don't like either of them anymore as they haven't changed much over the years, but out of the two, I like WMC-TV (My WCSC) better. Our local NBC station recently switched from what your WKRG uses to a newer look.

Just be grateful your NBC affiliate is privately owned. I don't like how all the NBC O&Os have unity. WCAU has followed that track ever since they went HD in late 2008.
My favorite graphics set is most definitely WPVI. Gotta love its unique graphics and 1970s theme music. Only thing I don't like about them is the fact that they use AccuWeather. -_-
Other favorites include KYTV/Springfield, WFMZ/Allentown, WNEP/Wilkes-Barre, and KPNX/Phoenix.

I'm a fan of the CBS O&O graphics. Love the variety of opens

Me too Tyler. Our CBS affiliate is owned by Meridith Corp. so they'll never see the CBS O&O graphics. :( I would imagine if our current FOX affiliate was still affiliated with CBS, they may have used the CBS O&O graphics.
Mike, I guess that's true, but I actually like the unity of the graphics packages they use. The only affiliate I think is worse than NBC graphics wise is our FOX affiliate. For Atlanta to be #8 out of the top 10 local news markets in the country, I would expect they would try to do something unique and different at those stations. ABC (Which is owned by COX Cable Corp.) and our CBS affiliate are the only two out of the four that are good.

Although I don't like our NBC affiliate's graphics, I like the concept of the Rundown where you can know well ahead what's going to be discussed next.

Favorite graphics has to be WHDH's Storm Force

IMO, Noticiero Univision trumps all the evening newscasts, hands down. (skip to 0:28) Noticiero Univision - New Look Montage 1/24/12 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BiaT9RFpcw#ws)

Michael Jerome News Graphics Montage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C5KmMv9USM#)
This is a montage of graphics from KHQ-TV (NBC affiliate in Spokane, WA) which were updated in 2002. I miss these graphics :(
I hate the newer graphics, even the current ones which were updated in 2008 for their new HD studio

Here is one of my favorite music sets used by one of the local stations down here in the 90s. I think the footage used was amazing as well.

Who can forget this one...the graphics and the music are amazing. I first heard/saw this when Osama bin Laden was killed.

I like these election day graphics from our FOX affiliates.

All FOX O&Os use those

Even though it's not a news channel, here is my absolute favorite. Science Channel's 2011 rebranding. My favorite part is the morphing logo and the chime at the end. It just makes the channel that much more awesome.

0:18 - I really like the Election music CBS used back in 2000/2004. It definitely fits the occasion.
On a sidenote: WOW, I watched this election coverage on ABC, but I didn't realize how CLOSE John Kerry was to defeating Bush. If he had of won Ohio, he very well would have. :o

For the National Tier:
I love The Weather Channel's 1998-2001 graphics/music package before their "Live By It" revamp, especially the "Weather Center PM" one.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGY-YXdT19c (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGY-YXdT19c#)
I think the only package that stands out in the 2001-2005 era was "Evening Edition". Actually sounds like a weather bulletin.

I also love hearing the 2004-current music package on ABC's overnight show "World News Now". (See the first 7 seconds and the last 20 seconds of this news story video)

As for the local packages, it's mostly "The Spirit of Texas" news music/graphic packages on WFAA-TV.
