I'm not that tech savvy on technical specs., but mine is 1TB, I looked it up and apparently that equals 1,024 GB. Is that right?  :dunno:

It depends on whether it's measuring with the base-10 or base-2 system. With the base-2 system (which Windows uses), 1,024 would be correct, but with the base-10 one, one TB would be 1,000 GB.

That's your hard drive capacity, not amount or RAM as what was being discussed.

:offtopic: I remember the first hard drive we got for our computer.  It seemed like a miracle at the time, though the capacity by today's standards would be ridiculously low.  Heck, I remember when I replaced my 5¼" floppy disks with 3½" not-quite-so-floppy disks and thinking that was impressive!  :)

We still have a computer with an HDD of 64mb - compare that to the now'a'days: 1tb, 500gb, etc.

Personally I'm satisified with a PC that has 2GB RAM and 128 GB RAM..I have no need for anything larger than that

My only box has only 512 MB of RAM, a 1.15 GHz single-core 32-bit processor, and 2 hard disks (roughly 50 GB total), and it runs the 32-bit (i686) version of Arch Linux. I use mainly text-mode/console applications, usually in a terminal emulator in X. I use only a few graphical applications now (e.g., Firefox, The GIMP). I also do not use a desktop environment any more — I use xmonad, a tiling window manager.

Firefox is too large, though. It uses too much RAM, swapping often, and it takes as long as 10 seconds to load. I am considering switching to a smaller Web browser such as uzbl. I already sometimes use ELinks, a text browser, when I do not need something as large as Firefox.

You're right, firefox is a ram killer. It takes 30 seconds for it load on my computer and I always get a high memory usage warning from norton when I use it
