Title: Comcast cutting into the Local Forecasts
Post by: wxntrafficfan on April 23, 2010, 06:53:14 PM
Just before the 6:49 LF there, I saw two 30 second mesothelioma ads... but Comcast also inserts an ad for a local car dealership. That ad goes out... and it cuts right to the last loop of the local radar. Comcast normally has an issue cutting 2 or 3 seconds into the LF intros or other promos... but this is getting ridiculous. Now several times a day I see it happen. Anyone else noticing it?

This happened constantly when I had Comcast. It's an issue that dates back a few years, and TWC really can't fix it, since it's Comcast that is inserting the ads. I will note, however, I've never had this issue with FiOS. :D

Never see it happen here, although the ad inserts still air awfully late, usually 2-3 seconds after the national ad begins to air (usually a health or ASPCA-related ad). There have been a few times, however, where Comcast would only air 30 seconds worth of commercials instead of a minute, and as such I would end up seeing half of the national ad.

Its common when a cable company wants to fit an Xtime commercial in a Ytime commercial slot. Happens all the time on nearly every channel here

I saw that way too many times to count in Albany with Time Warner Cable as well, but I only remember a couple times where it actually interrupted the LF.

Its very annoying but something you have to put up with. Cable companies are going to get every penny they can from local ads

That's normal... that's not as much the issue here. The problem is that Comcast can't seem to air the local/Comcast ads on time... sometimes 10 seconds late. What I've noticed on several channels now is that if they happen to do just that, they air an extra 30 second ad for some reason.

Comcast seems to replay Commercials that just appeared seconds ago like "Fall River Ford" and "Dartmouth Toyota" for example

What...the... :censored:
15 seconds after the local ad inserts, the LF begins, and the metro CC cuts to a local car dealer commercial. Cuts out to the second screen of the text based. This is getting REALLY annoying.

That's Comcast for ya :D

I never see this here... something or someone's really screwed up at your headend.

I've seen this in other Comcast headends too (and it has been reported elsewhere as well).
I really wish I could file some sort of complaint. Even though I don't generally like to use 90 second LFs, it would still be nice to see my regional CC map.

Here you go, this is what has been happening. Sometimes Comcast adds in an extra ad which cuts into the LF... but lately, they have been inserting a random set of ads right as the local forecast starts, which you see here.

Sorry, the site won't let me upload it here.

But anyone I can report it too? I wonder if I could try going down to my headend

I have a video of this happening:
Major IntelliSTAR Cue Fail - 4/17/10 @ 4:48 PM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APwu_0dSEZQ#)
It has been happening frequently here too.

That was a nationwide error. The errors Aaron is referring to are only at his headend.

Allow me to clarify. ALL Comcast headend appear to have the issue of lasting 2-5 seconds outside of the local ad slot. However mine seems to be having the issue to this level (actually haven't noticed it in a couple daze). I have seen it on 22842 too, so it must be something of this area.
