Terribly overpriced compared to the Internet.
-
Really? They were quite cheap here. The employees were helpful and they had plenty of things I needed. I even bought my slingbox there...Best Buy didn't carry it.
-
I want CompUSA back so I can have my job back
-
Circuit City sucks.
But yay for liquidation sales!

That was a great store. I was at the Moorestown location though once in late 2007 (not long before its liquidation), and it was nowhere as good as the CompUSA near Franklin Mills, the one I used to go to until that closed in 2006.
-
My father and I used to love to go to CompUSA for computer stuff. It was definitely sad to see it go.
-
Really makes me sad. Circuit City just built a brand new store and closed their old on in the Spring. It was nice having some competition between them and Best Buy.
-
Circuit City in Irving barely moved to the Irving Mall 5 years ago. Such a sad sight indeed.
-
/me wonders how long before Best Buy goes...
Which reminds me, I have gift cards...

Best Buy go? Hahaha not in a long long long time. BB has been making record sales and profits and is now the only big kid on the block. The City and Compusa are all gone.
-
Scary to think that some people STILL haven't discovered Internet shopping yet. But hey, maybe people have money to waste.
-
Interesting...I didn't realize that all of the Circuit City stores were going away. The one by me just closed, but I thought that was just because of its location. :hmm:
-
There were a lot of Circuit Cites in Phoenix, but they weren't to close to me. But I had a CompUSA about a mile from me. There used to be another CompUSA close to where my father works and they turned it into a Best Buy, which isn't so bad because I liked Best Buy better than CompUSA and Circuit. But we also have another electronics store called Ultimate. It's really really cheap. That's where we got our TV in the family room.

I do. I shop Best Buy, TigerDirect, Newegg, Amazon...all of 'em.

Figures, they are building a Circuit City just up NJ route 70 from here. Guess not anymore!

Exact same thing that happened here. They opened a new store, and in less than 2 weeks, it closed. There's planning for ya.

They opened a new Circuit City in Deptford, NJ near NJ 42. It opened less than 2 months ago.

Circuit City closest to me is the one in Toledo,OH
-
Got a ton of deals at CC today. Guy rang it all up at 30% instead of 10%. :thrilled:
-
All of the Circuit City's are closed in Phoenix.
-
What will happen to Firedog? Firedog offers PC services from CC stores.
-
The fate of firedog hasn't been determined yet... meaning they haven't found a buyer for it yet.
I mean that in the way I said it because some company, I forget which, bought the TechPro services part of CompUSA and the other main part of CompUSA went to Tiger Direct... in a sense, someone will buy the firedog services (hopefully)
I was supposed to join the TechPro technical services team at my CompUSA store in Mount Laurel after my 3 month probation period, but alas, a press release came out that they were going out of business :(
-
Well, yesterday the remaining stores have shut down for good. Goodbye, Circuit City.
Coincidentally, it was also the last day for Oscar Huber, a local furniture store chain.
-
Aww Circuit City!!! :cry3:
I will miss that store. It's where my parents got me this comp on my 17th bday!
<_< Now there's Best Buy left in my area, so I can shop for my new laptop.
-
Best Buy is better than say Walmart in terms of laptops. Make sure you invest in a replacement plan! I highly recommend it. I got the replacement plan on my laptop right before the store (CompUSA) started going out of business, so I was lucky as they discontinued replacement plan sales 1/1/2008 (i.e. they disabled the SKU's in the system). My laptop has started to show problems, but I have one coming hopefully in April, so I don't have to give Assurant a call about it. Do NOT get your laptop from places like Office Max, Office Depot, Target, etc, etc, etc. If you break it, you're SOL and will have to get another one.

Oh nooooooo no no. I will get one from Best Buy, fo' sure!, And maybe I'll buy a replacement plan along with it. Thanx for the quick advice though! :).
The comp my parents got me from Circuit City still acts and looks new. Even though I've been using it so much :noexpression:
-
Or be smart, and save some green, by buying it over the internet.
-
Speaking of Office Depot, the one up in Bensalem is also closing after only three or so years of being open. I never saw anyone come in there. I think they are replacing it with some Japanese restaurant.
-
The ONLY reason I would not want to see Circuit City dissappear is that it means a lot of jobs vanishing into thin air :sos:
But other than that, let them go out of business. They have outright terrible customer service, and the prices are generally too high. I went to the only Circuit City in the area out on the west side of Lansing for black Friday, to snatch a good deal on a TV tuner. When I got there, 30 minutes before it opened, not at all to my dismay, the line snaked around a corner of the store and halfway down that wall to the unloading dock. When I walked around the line to get to the back, 2 security guards followed me. :censored: Their security is a joke. :whateva:
-
I've heard other people say Circuit City's customer service was better than Best Buy's. I've never visited CC nearly as often though. The last time I was there I think was 2002 when we got a new TV.
-
I've been there just two weeks ago, got a good deal on some computer cables.
Too bad they are now gone. I loved shopping at Circuit City. At least Best Buy and Radio Shack will still be there. They are both close to my house.

Its funny when Best Buy first was created one of their first stores was in Norfolk. They left the city because Circuit City and Compusa were caused took most of the customers. Now Norfolk is left with nothing. Best Buy has yet to return but is located in the surrounding cities. Im sure sometime soon they will be back.
