Title: Christmas Trees
Post by: Concentric Eyewall on November 25, 2007, 01:09:43 AM
So when do you all set your Christmas trees up?  I have a couple I set up the day after Thanksgiving every year

I usually buy a real tree, so I usually wait a week or two after Thanksgiving before I get mine. Otherwise it usually dries up and starts losing its needles before its time to take it out of the house.  :ninja:

Oh yea, I should probably ask that as well.

Real, or fake?  I'm an artificial tree man, myself.  Had them all my life..

I couldn't imagine using a fake tree. I think that real are so much more beautiful. Not to mention that real trees fill the house with a wonderful pine scent.  :)

well we've gotten a Christmas Tree practically every year, though this year we have a new born who is absolutely terrible and we're basically afraid he'll bring the whole tree down if we get one this year. I don't think we'll be getting one, but I really hope we do, and possibly put a gate around it  :P :rofl2:

but we typically get a christmas tree around this time of the year, as well as decorate the house.

Yea, I've been to a house with a real tree before, and the pine smell is breathtaking!  Then I take a look down at all the needles on the floor  :-\ Plus, I can have the tree up longer   It's really just a matter of what you've had in your house all your life and personal preference :)

EDIT:  Is the ":-\" emoticon missing, or did I miss it again?

I am a fake tree person.  I think real trees are a pain..especially when 3 of the 4 people in your household are ALWAYS gone, and the 4th one is irresponsible.  And, I've got two dogs who seem to always knock stuff off. haha

But, We've had our fake Christmas tree since 1987, and are still using it today.  We usually put all of hour christmas stuff up the weekend after Thanksgiving, but we are putting outdoor lights up tomorrow probably.

That's why you use a tree skirt with a real tre. Tree skirt=no needles on the floor.  :sunglasses:

The big one in our house is real (8 ft), but we also have several more smaller fake trees.  They are all up as of right now.

Oh yea, artificials last longer.  More money in the pocket! (instead of buying a real tree every year)

$_$

Saw a pretty good clip on a 3rd rated news station about dangers of a real tree.  As if we already didn't know :P

It is pretty safe if you keep up on the watering it..and dont put it near fire and or heat.. duh

Anyone who doesn't know those things deserves to have their house burned down by their tree.  :whistling2:

Real tree is the only way to go. I hate it when people say its too much work, but in reality, they are just too freakin lazy.

BTW, way too early to put a tree up ;)

I'll admit, I'm glad when the holidays are over just as much as the next guy, but gee whiz, that's not even enough time to get a little enjoyment out of it. :D

Anyway, I put up my lights on Thursday, and my tree went up yesterday. I love to put up the lights and decorate, and I always go all out too.  :P

Uh huh, and you're just ignoring the Christmas season as it goes by?  Ususally, the Christmas season and trees go hand in hand, but I could be wrong (no, I'm never wrong :P)

Well, my family doesn't get Christmas trees. Do any of you put lights outside your houses? I see that my neighborhood has a lot of lights. One that reminds me of Reno at nighttime as chasing lights
