Changing cell phones
« on: May 13, 2009, 04:40:38 PM »
Okay gang, need advice.  Gonna be changing cell phones here shortly, from a generic phone to a smartphone.  Going to be sticking with AT&T as well.

Sooo....iPhone or Blackberry?  Commence debate.

depends. if you take really good care of your phones, i'd get the i-phone (there is no insurance plan for it...), blackberry's are just as nice. i was going to upgrade in october to an i-phone, but i decided to use my current phone until it either breaks or dies and then upgrade, that way i won't be spending money on unnecessary things.

iPhone.... iPhone.... iPhone!!!

It has been the best phone I have ever used, I had two Blackberries before it, a 7105t and a 8700g, both were great phones but they don't come close to all the iPhone has to offer. However I'd wait until after WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) because a new model of the iPhone is supposed to drop there, I pray it's 32GB!

Unrelated: This is my 200th post!!

Depends on what your looking for.

If you text a lot I would stay away from the iPhone. Its not difficult but its not easy.

However if you don't mind the above, get the iPhone. I have one on T-Mobile and its really a great device. Sure I could list a ton of complaints about it but in the end its goes above and beyond most phones out there.

actually, it is difficult at first, like every phone -- you'll eventually get the hang of it. i didn't like it so much cause of texting problems, but then i got the hang of it.  B)

Same here.  I don't see a need for all of that stuff... if I want on the internet, I'll use my computer.  Same with an iPod, if I want to listen to music, I'll use the radio  :P.

Decide what your needs are, then decide how much you want to spend (both ffor the phone itself and the service (AT&T is dropping price on iPhone plans))

I'll be getting a Blackberry Storm in a few weeks... I like the specs and the idea so I may as well try it... I don't like the iPhone... my mom and brother both have one and it sucks. I've used it.

Okay then:

 - The iPhone would be a refirb, so only $99.  The Blackberry would be free or $99.  There's no way in Hell I'm dropping full price.
 - I text some.  Not a lot (I think in the five years I've had a texting-enabled phone, I've sent a total of 230 messages)

I agree with Martin. If you do more texting than calling, go for the blackberry. If you want music and you want some cool features, go for the iPhone. I highly recommend not purchasing a refurbished one. I don't trust refurbished ones
