Alright, my two sense worth. First of all, when I took sex ed they taught contraception, not just abstinence. Not sure when that changed, but it shouldn't have. However, I also believe that abstinence should also be taught. IMO, teaching contraception to a bunch of horny teenagers is the equivalent of telling them to feel free to bang at will as long as they use a condom. Not cool.

I'm 23 and still not sure I'm ready to be a dad. And I also happen to be a virgin. I guess I'm one of the few guys that doesn't get with girls just to bang them.

There are some schools, not just catholic ones, that teach abstinence only sex education, mainly because parents get offended or something. I was lucky to have been taught sex ed with contraception. On another note, some schools let you be signed out of sex ed (exempt) by a parent. My school wouldn't allow that due to the fact that every week it's like someone else was walking around with a pregnant belly. I am one of the few guys that doesn't get with girls just to bang them for 2 reasons... 1) I respect them, 2) I happen to be gay :P ... but at any rate, the kid looks like he's 8.

LOL, see that, there's an advantage to being gay. You don't have to worry about impregnating a guy!  :D

You know when you think about it, I think this is mainly the girls fault. She wanted this to happen and I think seduced that boy. I knew about the birds and the bees when I was that age and apparently this boy did. However there is something very wrong when a girl at age 15  goes to a 12 year old to have a baby. There is something wrong with her and I would almost say she used him. I think consequences (although I don't know what) should be taken against her.  She was old enough to know what she was doing and the full effects.  That boy was not.

Teens today are sexually active. People need to learn and accept that. My school system (and many others) are supposed to teach abstinence however teachers know better and downright tell students the options.  However its using these 1940 teaching strategies in 2008 which cause the problems. Perhaps its difficult to think for adults of their innocent children drinking, doing drugs and having sex but ignoring it isn't the answer. Its that same reason why most of this is occurring in the first place.  While I am not sexually active I engage in romantic relationships but I know the risks and the responsibility it takes to go the next step and Im just not ready.

I do know that, but I still find it to be frowned upon.

I'm a Baptist. Baptists are Christians. Christians believe going *whistle* before marraige is a sin. Because the 10 Commandments are teh total awesomeness.

There. </rant>

EDIT: I've never even gone out with anyone And I don't plan to lose that invisible sticker that generally keeps me an A student. Now I can say that I don't plan to go out with anyone. </rant>.

these times it's expensive.
Haha indeed. I wouldn't go as far as saying I am in love however. I don't think people my age know what love really is. So to make decisions that could change your entire life forever seem almost foolish to me.

IMO, there is no such thing as teenage love. It's nothing but raging hormones.

Very true, mainly what fuels this stuff comes from the a: Internet (no duh!) b. their brother sister or relative or c: Their Parents. Some people need to grow up and stop being so  :censored: ed in their head about sex, because there is going to be alot of pregnant people in a few years in high school, its gonna be disgusting because the math is: Raging Hormones+Teen+Knowledge about what doing it is= One Teen that is sure  :censored: ed in the head like this one and like the lady who asked for it. Well im sure the baby will like having a  21 year old "dad" when he is 8 and a 24 year old "mom". Well I guess for now, "mommy" is gonna have to drive "daddy" to work for awhile!!!

Yes, they taught contraception when I was in sex ed.  They also talked about the importance of abstinence.

When I was in 10th grade, we had a sex unit, and took a survey out of ~20 kids, around 10 or 12 had not had sex before.  That's crazy.
When you're in sixth grade, you can say "I will never have sex", or "I will never smoke/drink", but then people change.  Idk.  I just think being a dad at 13 is rediculous.  I couldn't even be a dad now at 17.  And as Gary says, he isnt ready at 23.  I guess it kind of just depends on the person.  But I KNOW this kid cant be ready.

In general, I agree that there's no such thing as real, true love at that age. When your that age you just want to get with someone because their hot. You have no emotional connection, nor do you look for qualities other than looks in a guy/gal. Until you look at guys/gals for who they are, and not what they look like, you cannot fall in love.

Kyle, I said both at that age and still haven't had sex OR drink or do drugs.  :D
