Wow, thats a hefty drop!
-
That tells me that outside of the initial wow factor, the iPhone was overhyped and overpriced.
Just my opinion, though.
-
I'd say that just about every new electronic to enter the market is overhyped/priced.

Well said. Technology is just one of those things that people go crazy over, when something new and cool comes out.
-
This is still just a rumor. Both AT&T nor Apple have confirmed anything as of yet, and they likely won't 'til the device's release. But, there's one BIG downfall within this rumor... AT&T is expected to significantly raise monthly prices for the data packages.

same with Windows Vista, I waited 'til September to buy mine.

Hah. Its funny, cause everyone was like "Vista is totally awesome!", and it turned out to be MS's biggest blunder since ME. Maybe worse.

Interesting point. Sort of their trade-off.

I've disliked Vista from day one. Gil, you and I had many conversations where I denounced Vista and you raved about it.

It's interesting, because I have no idea what the hell I've been saying the past 3 years. It just comes out, before I even get a chance to think about it.

That's a rly big drop!
-
Some of the price drop
can may be attributed to the decrease in cost of flash memory in the past few years, as well as the introduction of many other touch-screen devices similar to the iPhone over the past year.
-
The main reason for the drop is AT&T exclusive deal with Apple is nearing its end. They want as many people as possible to sign up for a two year contract as possible. I love my iPhone and while it was expensive, I think I got my moneys worth out of the thing. I have T-Mobile anyway... :twothumbs:
-
The iphone is too complicated. I'd rather have a simple cell phone/MP3 player rather than some garbled up device with maps, gps, internet, tv and all the other goodies
-
No it's not, its incredibly easy to use.

Incorrect. The contract extends out 5 years, so therefore there's a little over 4 remaining.

I have at&t with a 2 year contract...i'd go crazy if it were 5. when and if I renew my contract (hoping not to) i would not sign for 5 years. though if i don't renew it, my phone will work, but it just means i'm eligible for an upgrade...in which I would have to resign, but i don't plan on doing that two years from now.

Al, I think you're confused. The 5 year contract is an exclusive rights contact between AT&T and Apple. ;)
