Title: Android phone apps
Post by: Bryan on September 14, 2015, 08:29:25 PM
I'm looking for a good weather and optimizer/cleaner app.  Any suggestions?

Weather: I like 1Weather (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handmark.expressweather&hl=en[/url). It has a relatively clean interface and a decent feature set; it's not bloated like some other weather apps out there. If you want something really simplistic, I like Eye In Sky (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.citc.weather&hl=en).

Optimizer/cleaner apps: I don't bother with them. Like with Windows, I find that they're pretty pointless. If you're concerned about memory use, either uninstall/disable apps that you're not going to use, or go through the apps that you actually do use, and disable push notifications. It's best to manually micromanage, IMO.

As Billy said, optimizer apps aren't worth it. I find that they can make the problem worse depending. I've gotten into the habit of manually clearing programs in your recent apps (usually holding the home button, or a physical button on the Samsung Galaxy).

And use the task manager (on most phones by also holding the home button) and clear the memory. More often than not when people tell me their phones are laggy, I check how many apps they "minimize" with the home button, and the number of instances of the same app I see just makes me laugh.

Thanks, this is all new to me.  As I just recently bought a smart phone.
