use audacity to record the music in the video

I use Total Recorder. Its simple and speedy. Just play the video and start recording with Total Recorder (or your program of choice).

Or, you could import your video file into Windows Movie Maker, drag your video file into the Audio/Music section into the timeline (it'll get rid of the video). Then, save the file, and it should save as a .wma file.

It's not really complicated at all, it's pretty simple, actually.

Recording the sound may actually take longer than using WMM to convert it, especially if you are taking the audio from a long video clip. You won't have to deal with playing the video if you just convert it with WMM.

It's not really complicated at all, it's pretty simple, actually.

Your method requires three steps, whereas ours only requires two. Granted, as Mike said, our method is as long as the clip we're trying to record, so that's its downfall. However, I notice better sound quality when recording directly as opposed to conversion of a file from one type to another. That process tends to cause the clip to lose quality.

How I do it:

• Play video
• Open Audacity
• Hit "Record" button
• Hit "stop" button at end of video
• Save as MP3
