All the people that are gone at the Weather Channel
« on: November 23, 2010, 08:24:55 PM »
I am new to this site, but not weather, I do a lot of weather activities in Maryland.  I love the Weather Channel and have been watching it since Hurricane Gloria in 1985.  The only thing that I am very sad about is how many of your good people have been let go.  I know times are tough, and you have some marvelous new and long timers on now, the news is helpful, cause you get all of it at once when you are in a hurry getting to work in the morning, but people like Sharon Resultan, Bill Keneely, Rich Johnson, Cheyl Lemke, Eboni Dion, Dave Schwartz, Alexandra Steele, Dao Vu., and many others that I did not mention, surely, they could be some place within your great company.  Young faces are good, but so are older ones, I will always watch the Weather Channel being the buff that I am, but I would think long and hard about the people you let go, economics aside, or whatever the reason, losing viewership because people get angry when so many are let go, can have a downside and that is, that people will look elsewhere to get their weather.

This is not a criticism, just an observation.  I think it is horrible that all those good people got axed and it must make the people that currently work for you very uncomfortable.  It is not a sin to be over 50 you know, someday, all of us get there, no matter how young we are.

Again, not a criticism, you do a good job, just an observation.

Robert

I completely forgot about Dao Vu...

But, yes, you're right. TWC is laying off too many people.

Umm... welcome to the site, I guess?

We know how you feel about the recent layoffs. A lot of us have been devastated.

TWC doesn't run this site. So while we may agree, there's nothing we can do. Sorry.

I'm afraid that is true. We don't have any control over it. It's sad about all the ones who have been laid off. :( I am thankful, though, that we can relive the memories of them here at twc classics and watch old videos of them on there and on you tube. :)
