ABC announced yesterday that it is cancelling All My Children and One Life to Live at the end of this year and is replacing it with two new shows called "The Chew" and "The Revolution." General Hospital will continue to run as the only soap opera on the network.
Welcome to the United States of Reality TV everyone! :wave:

Eventually soaps in general will be extinct. There's no solid core audience for it anymore because women are working during the day. If you do some research and look at ratings for soaps from 10 to 15 years ago compared to now, they have been losing about a quarter million viewers a year. but I am SO sick of reality TV shows, my head is going to explode. :wall:

I think this is a good move for ABC, since I don't really see a point for "All My Children" to run anymore. I mean, the "children" are all grown up, I don't see a reason for the show to keep running. lol
Reality TV shows need to die.

I'm curious what the new shows are about. Judging from the titles they sound pretty stupid. I'm thinking "The Chew" is one of those let's eat 50 pounds of food type shows? And I'm guessing that "The Revolution" is a liberal talk show. Which begs the question, why do they need that when they've got "The View."

I had the same thoughts about these shows too.

The Chew = cooking, food in the lifestyle
Revolution = heath and wellness

Well, with all these GREAT shows being cancelled. The future for this person looks very very bad. Don't know how much more I can take? :P

All they have to do is rerun the whole script from the beginning as they do with all of them.
IMO, Y&R is the best soap ever.

Yeah, I heard of it but never watched it. I remember Another World, though. :P
