You are right about that. This secession nonsense and Petraeus scandal takes away from really important stories.

CNN is trying as hard as it can to stay away from this - the only story it does have on this is Rick Perry saying "No" to secession calls. If you want real news, I'd check over there and avoid the Huffington Post/Washington Post/CBSNews for a little bit.

Thought I'd point this out: the polarization of the country continues, with new counter-petitions gaining steam. The  newest, "Deport Everyone That Signed a Petition To Withdraw Their State From The United States of America," already has 11,318 signatures. Obviously done as a symbolic gesture, but still - who would have expected a war on the White House's website?

Since the secession issue first came up (when I was first handed the petition for TX to secede), several bells and whistles went off in my head as well as the uneasy feelings in my stomach. I mean...what were those bozos thinking?

The same thing occurred during the Bush Administration in the early 2000s, except it was less publicized back then. Just some sore losers who weren't happy that the president they didn't elect is in office, so they figured secession is the solution. It's not only childish, embarrassing, and time-wasting; but it also worries millions of Americans like me.

That's what has become of American politics - it's all childish now.  No one respects the opinions of anyone else anymore, and there's certainly no desire for compromise anymore.  It's "my way or the highway" now.
