I haven't seen the EAS activated around here for Severe T'storm warnings or Tornado Warnings in years, but we have those annoying weekly tests all the time, it seems.
My super-awesome website!

Yeah we get the annoying tests all the time too, though technically its only supposed to be done during the wee hours. That is, if your talking about the ones that take up the entire screen, and not just the scrolling ones.

I havent seen an EAS test in years. My headends must have it disabled or something, or on a stupid local channel that no one watches.

LOL, why do people have such a hard time making logical connections? Maybe its because your headend does it in the wee hours, like they're supposed to.

Sure, I'll take that! :D

EAS could be on a public access channel. You might not know how much stupid info they put on those channels.

Usually EAS tests are done system wide, not just on a particular channel or two.

We get them here for Tornado Warnings and Flash Flood Warnings, as well as Civil Emergencies and Child Abduction Emergencies. For a while, we got them for Severe Thunderstorm Warnings as well... but almost every single Comcast customer complained, and Comcast finally took them off. It got so bad, people were blaming the NWS, which prompted the NWS to issue a public statement:

Quote
...PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS RECEIVED NUMEROUS
COMPLAINTS ABOUT OUR SEVERE WEATHER WARNINGS BREAKING INTO LOCAL
CABLE TELEVISION PROGRAMMING DURING SEVERE WEATHER EVENTS. THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS NO CONTROL OVER THE
METHOD THAT YOUR LOCAL CABLE COMPANY CHOOSES TO DISPLAY OUR
WARNINGS. IF YOU HAVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WAY OUR WARNINGS ARE
DISPLAYED, YOU SHOULD CONTACT YOUR LOCAL CABLE COMPANY.
AGAIN, THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH IS NOT
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE METHOD THAT YOUR LOCAL CABLE COMPANY USES TO
DISPLAY OUR WARNINGS.
THANK YOU.

I seen the EAS about 2-3 weeks ago with my Comcast. It is not gone, and it was on EVERY channel.
