My opinion is that the Perry , Lecompton, Kansas unit had the most degradation.
Wish I had a WeatherSTAR 4000. Brings back memories.

Yes I know that unit was fixed. I was just mentioning my opinion about how it looked before it was fixed.

Video that was taken BEFORE the unit was fixed
Wish I had a WeatherSTAR 4000. Brings back memories.

That's impressive! That unit could've fallen apart at any minute. I was glad they fixed it instead of upgrading it to an Intellistar.

Me too. I'd take a Weatherstar 4000 or a Weatherstar XL over an Intellistar anyday.
Wish I had a WeatherSTAR 4000. Brings back memories.

Hey, add me to the list! EVen though both are far less advanced than the Intellistar, the information that the 4000 and the XL can provide are enough for me

E. Lansing: Comcast, Channel 40, STAR ID 22842

I agree. I really wish that Toledo, Ohio (Buckeye Cablesystem) Still used the 4000. I really see no need for an Intellistar in Toledo.
Wish I had a WeatherSTAR 4000. Brings back memories.

I think this one now holds the record for the most degraded STAR ever.

Wish I had a WeatherSTAR 4000. Brings back memories.

That's a sign that there's a sensor hooked up to the 4000.

I find it amazing that unit still uses a local sensor package at the headend. That hasn't been around since TWC's beginning in the early 80's, and I thought the concept went completely 'extinct', but apparently not.

Could that degradation be caused by a large amount of dirt and dust that could have built up inside the unit over time?
