When did you first discover TWC?

In 1987, when I was 8, via channel surfing. The graphics of the BTF and the STAR 3 of the Local Forecast had me instantly hooked. Not to mention that I was an information junkie for my age. The very first major hurricane I remembered when watching was Hurricane Hugo in 1988. Who can forget the Great Christmas freeze of 1989, where most of the southeast dipped to well below freezing levels and parts of Florida saw snowfall.

I began liking TWC in about the summer of 96, i became watching it more and more and by spring 98 it was a daily routine of mine. I dont remember my STAR 3000, if i even had one. When i started watching it, i had a 4000 (i can tell cause i remember the LOT8 graphics) I did NOT like how the radar worked on my 4000, 1/2 time it said Temp Unavailable (in blue box) and the only time i saw a blue bar on the top with Current Radar on it (with my 4000 at least) I liked the 98-01 graphics with the 4000 as well as the XL v1. then in 02 i got a computer and started getting forecasts from that and my TWC watching went downhill. I watched TWC in Mornings in 96-02, Nights from 98-05, by the time they got the new logo I didnt watch TWC a lot.

The First I Watched it Was somewhere Around 1998 I Kept Watching It everyday in 2005.

February 26, 1992 I watched sparingly from that time until the following winter, when I watched it often to see if we'd get a snow or ice day. That spring I basically became hooked, watching it for hours on end. I generally watched it regularly every day after school until my senior year of HS.

I discovered TWC for the first time shortly after it was added to my cable lineup when I was living in puerto rico, sometime around early June, 1991. Some of you might know how i ended up being hooked on TWC but here it goes:

I was a homebody growing up, for the most part. As a result i used to watch 8 hr of TV during the day and 10 hr plus on weekends and during the summer. there was this Nick Jr show that i didnt care for so i watched TWC an hr a day instead to start, and then i noticed the music was different with each LF. Among the first songs I heard (I didnt know the artist/title info at that time) were:

Don Grusin - Hattie Mae
Max Groove - Fiesta Sol
Bobby Lyle - Love Eyes
Amani AW Murray - Everywhere Calypso
Tom Scott - You Mean Everything to Me
Crusaders - Healing the Wounds and Mercy, Mercy Mercy
Strunz and Farah - Zumba (one of my very first favorite songs!! )

I had no STAR system at the time, it was the grey scrolling TCF screen. I doubt most of you know what that is but for those who know you know what i mean. I also noticed the songs were different during different dayparts. I like Geography and Maps, so I thought the maps and shades on color for temp. bands for instance were cool. I also liked the artwork for the BTF, among other things:


I remember the Michelin Report at :54, the Tropical Update at :48, the Halloween Forecast where they showed "Halloween themed" named cities and they wide variety of what I know now as "flavors" . I started watching more often, and as the saying goes, the rest is history

TWC helped largely define my musical tastes, and help develop my interest in Weather (I do have an Atmos. Science degree) and TWCC helped me find all that music that I thought I would never get

I first saw TWC sometime in the mid 1990s. I think it was 1995 when I was in first grade.

I was always interested in maps (and at one point I even wanted to be a cartographer). I always looked at maps and atlases, and every time we went on a trip, I had always followed along on a map since I was a little kid. I guess I saw the weather maps on TWC, and I was really interested.

I recall seeing the end of the "Weather You Can Always Turn To" era because I remember all the bright orange and purple graphics, and I seem to remember the music that played. I would watch attentively for hours on end.

I can remember staying up late at night here, and seeing the J flavor on the STAR 4000 because I remember seeing the TCF scroll. I watched almost all the time until 1999 or 2000 when I entered middle school.

I distinctly remember hearing a lot of music from 1998 and 1999, which was my peak of viewing in the 1990s.

Then I re-gained interest in TWC in March 2006 when I found TWC Classics. I remember that day. It was March 25, 2006; a cool rainy Saturday afternoon. I saw some WeatherSTAR 4000 videos, and I was like "wow, I remember this." It was a great day for me.

I saw it in 2001 when I had Satellite for a year and in 2002 I had ATT cable and had the Weather STAR XL and stopped watching in 2003. 4 years later on Christmas day 2006, I decided to have my interest back for sometime

I remember we still had the 4000 in 1996. and it got upgraded in 2005 so it was around for a long time.

1985 on cable at my parent's home...was facinated by it!  Couldn't believe all weather all the time!

Moved to Nashville in '86 and specifically got cable just for TWC....
