Title: What is this?
Post by: Spring Rubber on March 22, 2008, 01:32:54 AM
I'm guessing Kyle probably knows. (This displayed at the end of Day Planner today when they were trying to source Viz 200.)

From the looks of it, I'm going to guess WeatherPro based on the titles of the files listed. Let's see if I'm right or not.

Yeah, I can't remember the exact name but thats the Map list for the map system, basically all the maps are preloaded and lined up and then the OCM's remote will hit next, previous, etc and display them.. I can't remember the situation as to where this gets displayed but I believe its when the user drags the window over the dynamic on air display window...

Its most likely IRIX (same OS that the XL runs). The GUI is almost exact. Many other UNIX systems have this kind of appearance as well.

Now that you mention it, that does indeed look like IRIX.

It is. I know for a fact that TWC uses it.

Upon second look, it appears that it might be the playout server screen, but I am not sure about this because I have no clue how that screen would get on air as the system doesnt have a NTSC video output, just 2 VGA monitors..

Okay, its not Omneon playout, It is the graphic system, but I think its the sponsored graphic system, if you notice Lowes is shown in the lists. SR, do you have any other caps from this scene? Any maps that were shown before / after this?

Before that, they accidentally displayed a custom-made WxPro map showing departures from average highs, followed by a Viz|Weather map about snowfall amounts. After the screenshot posted in this topic, they went to break, followed by Storm Stories. The titles in the list in the screenshot really do look like the titles of WxPro maps (probably for the Weather Center show at 3 PM ET), so I'm guessing it's that.
