TWC and Twitter have teamed up to deliver tweets abou the weather in real time to TWC itself, weather.com, and the mobile app. http://blog.twitter.com/2011/08/weather-so-hot-right-now.html?m=1

Just another way for TWC to show off whatever's left of their "weather" side.

I personally find it an interesting and welcome idea. It seems to be a good way to pull all tweets mentioning or featuring the weather into one cohesive place, which will allow you to get another's take on the weather. Seems harmless enough, and good. It has my vote.

Thats surprising the partnership was big enough for Twitter to mention it in a blog post. I think its a cool idea!

Just another way for TWC to show off whatever's left of their "weather" side.

I actually think it's a cool idea. I just don't get how to do that hash mark thing, but I think it's an interesting, modern way to talk about weather in this social networking society. I just wish they'd pull more tweets from the topics, but other than that, I say good idea.

Interesting concept, for sure.

Alex- I think you're wrong.  I think it is TWC giving viewers another way to get their weather quicker, and more convenient.  Within recent history, TWC has really been pushing social media and their website.  At the television station I worked at, they were always plugging their website/Facebook/Twitter and youtube page.  It's a new trend in media.  I think TWC is doing a fine job in that area.

At first, I thought it was a little overkill, but now I think it's pretty nifty. My only gripe is that some tweets that have nothing to do with weather still show up just because they have words like "breezy" or "cool" in them.

I think this is an excellent idea, especially for weather.com. It's interesting to see what both "average" people (non-meteorologists) and even some professionals have to say about the weather in the area.

I think it's actually pretty neat how you can find weather related tweets on weather.com by city or ZIP. Good job on this one, TWC.

This seems like a pipe dream, but I think that TWC Social can be integrated into the IS or IS2 as a separate slide showing weather-related tweets in the area. It would probably be implemented in larger metro areas like how traffic used to be. It could work for Weatherscan, since there would be more time for the product, and IMO, TWC Social would fit the lifestyle feel of WS. Yes, I know it seems improbable, but I'm just throwing it out there as a possibility.

Boy I didn't truly realize this until now, but the longer this thing exists, the more shameless the plugs get. :itsok: Why are they forcing the OCMs to keep saying that same dang phrase over and over again every time they do this segment? "We have a new one of a kind partnership with Twitter" After two months I'm pretty sure it's not considered new and I'm sure most people who uses or doesn't use it gives a crap anymore. I quickly grab the remote to change the channel as soon as I hear the word "twitter" come out of their mouths. If I'm gonna make shameless plugs like this, I hope I'm getting paid extra for it because then I'll say it as much as they want me to.  :P
