its now showing during weatherproof @ 6PM EST Edit: looks like the ldl is only cuing on the 8s now
-
maybe it's an error? everything looked normal during Storm Stories at 4PM & 4:30PM CT Why would TWC drop the LDL for long form?
-
maybe it was a test for peter lik's premiere on thursday because it only showed up during weatherproof

Seems reasonable. His show is about the beauty of nature so they might want to minimize distractions

Was this the same transparent logo that they used during the Friday night movies?

the logo was a tad bit different it had a tiny white shadow behind it, if it does appear again i will snap a pic of it.
-
the test theory is out the window, its now showing during SS @ 5pm EST
-
To my knowledge, it's only going to be used during On the Edge with Peter Lik. There will no regular LDL, or the squeezeback during On the Edge. The LDL will show at :07 or :08 for a minute and a half.

So if there's no squeezeback and just a short-time LDL, doesn't that completely go against everything TWC said about giving its viewers "live and up-to-the-minute" weather coverage? <_< I can't believe they're nixing this idea already, even if it is for just one show.

I can see this idea lasting a couple weeks.

the Transparent Logo is now being used on ICHT and Cantore Stories.
i'll post an update if anymore shows are using it.

This is a big mistake, in my opinion. Not only is TWC taking away actual weather programming for longform, but they're also taking away the LDL - the one remaining source of weather information - and replacing it with... NOTHING! Just another step towards becoming a full-fledged weather-oriented entertainment network.

I don't see what is so particularly special about Peter Lik, ICHT, and Cantore Stories to use the transparent logo and take away the LDL. :dunno: To me all these shows are basically the same to me, though I don't watch any of those shows. TWC sure has made some dumb decisions in the last 2 years alone.

I believe the use of that logo was an error.
-
add Storm Stories & Twist of Fate to the List
-
So basically the transparent logo that was used for Flick & A Forecast is being recycled for longform programming? To be quite honest, I find this pretty awesome. I really like the logo. It looks pretty in HD. <33

Not that logo, but the one they have been using since the debut of Peter lik

And the weather information is... where?
-
And the weather information is... where?
i guess TWC really thinks viewers will visit weather.com during those times.
Other than that whoever doesn't have any internet is basically screwed out of weather :footinmouth:

They really should have thought about that. Not everyone has internet access. <_<

Have you checked? Is it indeed an error?

That's the logo I was talking about. So it was a different logo in FaaF then? Man, my rocky memory won't let me remember. >_>

I haven't seen the L bar all day, LDL is only appearing on the 8s. I'm not quite understanding TWC nowadays, but I do know that weather is the last on their minds.

It's been that way ever since NBC purchased TWC.
-
Odd seeing it during live programming.

That has definitely got to be a mistake.

Kim Cunningham @Mike, we are not showing that anymore so we can transition to somehing new! We will be testing new local info this week! Hang in there, it'll be back!
-
sounds like a new LDL? :itsok:

1.) "Oh, no," I say with some trepidation. It may be a truly great thing, but, chances are, this will be a horizontal move at best. I will, however, withdraw my trepidation if this means they'll be bringing back the lower-third.
2.) One wonders how much TWC will expect this "something new" to replace actual weather programming.
-
come to think of it you might be right Eric, they might bring back the LDA so they can use the 33% LDL during Long-Form

Or the squeezeback. :whistling: They didn't show a local forecast, they showed this instead.

I don't think they will go back to the taller LDL because it will mess up the lower thirds on the taped programming that are formatted for the shorter LDL and they would have to shrink the video.
Plus for me I felt it made the video area to small.
What I would like for them to do is letterbox all live programming on the SD feed so they can format the maps and graphics for 16:9.
-
just saw the Logo during the 2pm EDT PME Special Coverage.
-
The extended live coverage at 8pm ET is using the transparent logo.
-
TWC has changed the logo during taped programming to white block that is almost not transparent with slightly gray lettering.
It looks to distracting and they should change it back to white text a clear outlined box.

That's ugly! The original transparent "glass" logo was just fine. Why did TWC need to change it?
-
Stands out more. ...branding.
-
For some reason, I don't mind the bug logo. I still think the transparent one looks alot better.
-

If they want it to stand out, why not just keep the blue one? :dunno: That one looks better than this piece of crap, IMO.
