That always will be the case. Online forecasts are just generated automatically. Plus you have to take into account HiRad and other manipulation TWC does with their weather data. NWS is still the best place for weather info

I think they were running a separate database for the website's forecast data back in the 90s/early 2000, at least that's what I recall them saying.

I haven't checked other cities, but they seem to have a serious warm bias with high temperatures here. They've been putting highs of 95-98 degrees in the days 2-4 forecast a few times this summer, but that's way too hot.

HiRad is another issue. I will always prefer real observations over interpolated ones.

I've noticed that issue, too. For example, I think temperatures from DFW Airport are used on the air whereas a general "Dallas, TX" online will give observations from downtown or Love Field. HiRAD is obviously a reason for this.

A video featuring Jim Cantore is now on the old site, explaning all the new features of the NEW weather.com. The timeline part is kind of interesting.
Just watched it. Interesting indeed - minus the pop-culture stuff.

Can somebody find out whether or not they are going to keep Gold or if it will change or not? I rely on this a lot for my school's morning show.

You're better off using Weather Underground. I'm sorry, but I hate TWC's forecasts. I find a severe thunderstorm on a "fair" day absolutely ridiculous. Just as a freelance project, I've taken on redesigning the NWS site. (I have way too much freetime in summer.) :P Also, HiRAD my foot.

Weather underground is even worse. They reported the temperature down in Atlantic City as 111..when it was really 101 from the NWS (correct reading). And TWC recorded it as 94 and that's not right because it felt way more hotter than that.

WxUnderground also uses personal stions, Molly, alongside ASOS reports. ;)

I started using Wunderground last week and I like it. I don't use personal stations, though, but rather ASOS codes for reports.

As Zach stated, Wunderground uses the personal stations.  And the station that recorded the "way more hotter"(??) weather was probably in a sunny area.

The only time I use weather.com is when planning a trip.  I look at their "10 day forecast" and just see it as a "trend" more than anything.

My friend just told me he is redirected automatically to the new weather.com, but I'm still getting to the old one unless if I manually enter in preview.weather.com.

Weather underground is very inaccurate, I don't trust it at all. I only use TWC and sometimes NWS and AccuWeather.

Its the exact same thing as the NWS when it comes to forecasts. Wunderground is the best place for local conditions. Their network of personal weather stations is huge! Of course you have to watch out for the occasional station that goes a bit wonky but you can easily select NWS/ASOS stations. Plus remember that most PWS update every few seconds. NWS stations take much longer to update unless you call an ASOS station. Ive found thats the fastest way to get an official update especially when the precip type matters like in the winter. The phone obs update every min or so.

A downside to having this new weather.com as a BETA is that it does not seem like it is around-the-clock fully updated. Oh well, I can be patient for 8-9 more days. :P

but WPVI Accuweather (also inaccurate) reported 101 for Atlantic City Airport as did WMGM40. So NWS was right for this one.

The one on-air promo they're running (with the dark blue background, yellow font, weird ass music) reminds me of a Harry Potter commercial or something.

I could care less for the beta version of this page. I get the old page when I go to weather .com and have to hit the "Close" button to get to the new site. Some of the articles are not pulling up.

Well, I'm liking the new weather.com. The best part is that you can add three default locations on your homepage so you don't have to search for them by zip code!

What got me was the countdown when you first visit the site. That fooled me. :P

My first reaction: Oh, look the old weather.com. Didn't they redesigned it-- oh.. 5..4...3...2...1... *POOF* Oh, there you are.

Also, I heard if you retweet or repost this:
