New Weekly Planner maps
« on: October 21, 2008, 11:52:36 AM »
Today, TWC launched some asinine Weekly Planner maps for First Outlook that focus on only the areas east of the Mississippi River, and YWT launched a version of the planner that makes the maps of the whole country almost impossible to see, with only the precip map for the east of the Mississippi being enlarged.

Chris Hoitsma is getting feedback about this right away; this is pretty much the stupidest idea I've seen in a long time.

I like it... they're focusing on the areas that are getting ready for work in the morning during First Outlook and YWT. the West Coast, I doubt, is getting ready for work at 1am PT/4am ET... They get a thumbs up from me  :twothumbs:

Day Planner is the block that focuses mainly on the West Coast as they get ready for their work day.

I like the idea... for First Outlook only. All other programs should use the entire maps, including YWT. Believe it or now, people do get up at 4am (west coasters during YWT) to get ready for work.

I agree with Tyler. They should at least cover the whole nation during the second two hours of YWT, like how they used to do during its first few years. Besides, First Outlook needs more individuality. The only thing that's left that I find unique about the show is the Business Barometer. Everything else that made it professional (its own set, the "7 Day Business Planner," separate travel analyst, etc) had went down the drain.

Those maps actually went triple on YWT.

The had one displaying highs in the east, general weather in the east, and then general weather across the lower 48.

What about people just to the west of that map that live in the Central time zone; many of them are up for work at 4-5 AM, yet they're not being covered at all. Houston, the 4th largest city in the country, is even left out.

Oh, so First Outlook does have their own graphic for it. That's good.

I agree. You can bearly see the maps. Plus I think they're putting too much information on at the same time.

Sure you can.  I can see that my area is going to have rain, with temps in the 50's.  I don't mind it..at all.  I actually like the idea.

So, what your saying, WeatherSTARIII, is that temperatures and precipitation is too much info at the same time?

Yes. Before you know it, they will fill up the entire screen with pop-ups and messages on the screen.

continually strive to do a better job of covering weather conditions west of
the Mississippi River.

We are always happy to hear from our viewers and hope you will continue to

I don't know why, but I just had to laugh at that message. If they want to strive to do a better job at covering areas west of the Mississippi, then why create these new maps?
