Major TWC problems - morning of 10/16/08
« on: October 16, 2008, 04:22:51 AM »
This morning, I went to tune in to First Outlook just before I went to sleep, but boy, I was in for a surprise!

When I turned on the TV, TWC was airing a recorded HD LF on the SD feed from some random Saturday in the recent past ("tomorrow" was displayed as Sunday in the 5-day forecast); immediately after this LF, it transitioned right into recorded Forecast Earth. (with the HD logo displayed underneath the national LDL, which was on the entire time) Based on this, the recording must have either been from the evening hours on a recent Saturday or even from EEWC from a Saturday back in September when Forecast Earth still followed EEWC. After a few seconds of Forecast Earth played, there was a hard cut to the live First Outlook teaser, but after a few seconds, commercials started playing, then after a few seconds, it cut back to live FO, then back to commercials, then back to FO. Finally once they got into the studio after the opener, the feed cut back to commercials one last time until things returned to normal.

After the first FO segment, the commercials only ran for one minute, causing the LF to start at :07. As of right now, the schedule is still off-track by one minute.

Yeah, I thought that time in May where we jumped back to the previous night's EEWC as bad, but here we jumped back to a recording from anywhere between 5 and 26 days ago. O_o

I've got it all recorded, so maybe tomorrow we can analyze the forecast data in the LF and figure out just what day this was from.

Oh great, now we've got the STARs doing an LF right after the went to break at :36; it's currently running over the commercials.

Woah, it just went away. I've never seen TWC have the ability to stop the STARs cold turkey before once they've already cued.

Yeah, they've done that before. I believe it would work like how they stop the LDL, but in this case it is the entire LF.

Here are the clips of what happened today:

Frozen Station ID at 2:43ish AM CT, causes revert to raw HD feed of the EEWC repeat:
http://d.imagehost.org/download/0747/Station_ID.avi

Major problems start at 2:57 AM CT as the station ID doesn't play (probably because of the station ID earlier); instead, the top of the hour bumper plays in its place, which automatically leads into the feed from the control room, which is prepping for First Outlook. After a short Trammell emergency feed, a recorded HD LF cuts in; then halfway through, an HD LF from a long time ago cuts in (anyone know when this was), followed by the Forecast Earth repeat that apparently originally played after that LF whenever the heck that was. (Anyone know what day that was?)

An LF plays starting at the end of this studio segment at 3:36 AM CT, but it's cut off manually less than a minute into it:

Just got help from Billy in discovering that the second part of that HD LF was from 11:58 PM CT on Saturday, September 27th.

The first part was obviously from this past weekend with that big dumping of snow in the Plains and Rockies, either Saturday or Sunday; still trying to figure out which.
