Title: Interesting TWC/NBC Thing I Saw...
Post by: tpirfan28 on November 17, 2008, 09:43:20 AM
On MSNBC just now, they did a story on the California wildfires, with a special Weather Channel-identified lower thirds, complete with Weather Channel logo.  Also, the clearly former NBC Wx+ meteorologist was verbally *and also on the LDL* identified as a "Weather Channel meteorologist".

That's very interesting indeed.

During Ike coverage, MSNBC sometimes showed reports from Mike Bettes, Steph, and Jim.

MSNBC showed a weather segment with the TWC logo in the upper-left and the TWC titlebars, but still the NBC precip markers, maps, and fonts.

And no, I do not have a cap.  I'm editing all my captured vids, and it's really bogging down my system.

This likely explains some of the layoffs at OCM-level in order to bring in WX+ people.

We're one of the last markets left with local WX+ inserts, actually. I don't know if this station, which is the market leader (for news, at least), will come out with its own product because after it started, two other digital subchannels signed on in competition.

Weatherscan for TV would be huge, but the DMAs are so large (Phoenix covers northern Arizona too!) to cover.
