In all my years of watching TWC, I've never heard of a storm referred to that way simply because it was hitting the big cities.

TWC is trying to hype up this storm through some sly wording. Just about every coastal snowstorm that impacts the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast hits some part of the "Megalopolis".
I found an article back in January that between January thru March 9, they want to own the whole The Weather Channel, so I don't know what the Earth is going on.
