i just check and due to Erika falling apart, it looks like it's back to the normal Saturday afternoon schedule programming on Weather Channel.

Yeah, my guide still says "Tropical Alert: Tracking Erika" but long form is on.  Too bad we couldn't see more live weekend coverage.  I wonder if it's ever happened before where TWC planned to pre-empt a large block but then fell back on the deal because it was no longer necessary?

I was snooping around Twitter earlier, and I came across this photo from everyone's favorite TV executive, Dave Clark. It appears radar is on its way to the sidebar this month. I think we should be watching out this Tuesday; it would make sense to roll out the updates after the holiday weekend.

This makes me wonder about the future of the LOT8's. They've already cut it back to 2 per hour during WUTV, and I would not be at all surprised to see them do that all day. Stay tuned...

That is interesting! It looks like TWC is learning from WN. Wonder if WN'S ways have gotten popular? You think we'll see this during longform ????? Rolls eyes.
As for LO8, it shouldn't affect it. WN has radar and an alert bar and they still do LWN/LO5.

I  don't see anything different yet on the SD feed. What about the HD feed? I'm not home to check.

WUTV is still live at 8pm tonight. And, Keith and Kelly will be on from 9-midnight.

This would be a great schedule for every night...

I'm guessing it's because of Trop. Storm on the east coast and not the Trop. Storm itself BUT.......this is a good start of things to come!!!!!

yep, they are doing extended coverage of a prolonged rain event in the Northeast that could cause major flooding across the Northeast as well as the uncertain impending arrival of Tropical Storm Joaquin, which could hit the Northeast as a Cat 1 or 2 Hurricane, that is if it does make a path towards there.

JOAQUIN is still a Cat 3, will we see Storm Alert/Red Mode?????  Sam said this morning that TWC is now 24/7 Live till JOAQUIN passes. Hopefully that's true since I saw longform at 8 Eastern last night! Honestly! 1 step forward, 2 steps back!

well, it depends on where it hits and whether or not it's a Cat 3, 4, 5 or a weaken cat 1 or 2 or Tropical Storm or Tropical Depression or Post-Tropical Cyclone by the time it hits land if it does hit land at all.

speaking of which, Joaquin is now a Cat 4 Hurricane and is possibly gonna peak at Cat 5 if it continues to strengthen tonight

They just discontinued coverage. Then again, it's not the weekend yet.

Interestingly, right before live coverage ended they pulled the latest computer models which indicated less confidence the hurricane would stay offshore.  Yet they still went to taped programs at midnight.  If the network is really planning on phasing out reality shows, one would think this would be a great time to practice....
