Today is the 1 year anniversary since TWC relaunched and I can honestly say that the channel is worse off than it was a year ago due to the following reasons:

*The deduction of Live Weather Programming hours
*The increase of reality shows that mostly have nothing to do with weather
*AMHQ
*The way they handled DirecTV removing TWC.
*The way they handled Severe Weather Coverage (Barely anyone watches the Dual-Feed)
*The decrease of forecast segments in favor of taped, fluff and non-weather segments on WCL. Some segments aired on WCL are parts of Long-Form Shows.
*Dumbing down the LOT8s.
*Dumbing down the graphics
*Numerous changes that are unnecessary (The Lab)
*TWC bragging how "Amazing" weather and science is. They spent too many times explaining the science "behind" weather instead of forecasting it.

I mostly blame CEO David Kenny for this as TWC wasn't this bad before he arrived. I hope that NBC removes him soon or sell TWC.

The Weather Channel: The weather happens when we say it does!

Brilliant!
That should be their new slogan! :rofl2:

You forgot about the gradual sounding of the death knell on the legacy WeatherSTAR units (https://twctodayforums.com/forums/local-forecast/4000xljr-the-end-is-near/)

Imagine being one of the 40 employees cut after TWC having spent all those resources doing a remodel to the expert area that had gotten a remodel a couple of years ago.

If I'm correct they don't even  have a storm specialist in the lab on weekends since the reduction in live programming.

Plus I can't help but think back to the childish mocking of Weather Nation that The Weather Channel did for them not being live and now TWC is only live for 6 hours a day on the weekend.

To this day, I don't think I will ever, ever understand why TWC cut back on the LOT8s and dumbed it down.  A few years ago (or more like several at this point) in the HD promotional video, Jim Cantore said he thinks the LOT8s is the number one reason why people tune in to The Weather Channel.  Well, if that's the case, then why did they reduce the length of the LFs to one-minute only, and why are they wasting practically half of this minute with a dumb Welcome screen and even more useless hashtag screen?  I just don't get it.  Is the LOT8s just too expensive to maintain or something?

Personally, I don't have a problem with the removal/replacement of legacy STARs.  Yes, I know it removes even more pieces of the "classic TWC" we all knew and loved, but that had to happen soon enough, as the old systems were certainly showing their age and probably difficult to maintain with the ever-advancing technology.  However, at this rate, I think I would certainly prefer a WeatherSTAR 4000 (especially an XL) over the junk they show now.

Since Al did his Rokerathon, maybe he should quit TWC! TWC sure doesn't do 34 straight hours of weather!

Just noticed something else that must be a part of the latest staffing cuts.
All the video forecasts on Weather.com no longer use OCMs on screen.
Instead the TWC meteorologists are voicing the forecasts.

A promo just ran saying TWC would be here all day and all night covering the current and next winter storm.
I'm guessing that means extended coverage tonight.

Apparently all of TWC experts were off or unavailable so Jen C. who already has a weekday shift had to come in and do segments from The Lab for the 9am-12pm WCL shows.

TWC is doing extended coverage today till 10pm.
Promos are running that say long form programming is on starting at 12pm on Thursday and Friday.
With people traveling on on Friday I find it odd they not doing a regular schedule.
