well, The Weather Channel is in the news for all the wrong reasons after a tweet from a ticked Fort Worth, TX City councilman. Fort Worth Concilman Joel Burns complained that The Weather Channel app used a photo of Dallas instead of Fort Worth and deleted the app. however, TWC's twitter said this: "@JoelBurns Sorry to see you go. Good luck on ending bullying."

it caused a public outcry locally and more people are standing up and deleting the app in support of Councilman Burns, who is activist in the war on bullying as in he is against it.

The Weather Channel later posted an apology on twitter:
"@JoelBurns we apologize for our reply this morning. Our response was inappropriate & we're taking steps to ensure it doesn't happen again."

TWC is live in storm mode at 8pm.

On the national feed Video is full screen and the national LDL is on screen on top of the WCL logo.


On the SD IS feed the local LDL is on top of the national LDL.


After commercials the wing on the right was turned on however the video is still full frame.

Is it just me or do the "new" WUWAL graphics look TERRIBLE? It's like they are taking HD stock footage and compressing it down to 4:3 and then letter boxing it. It looks horrid. How long have they been doing this?

All of The Weather Channel's graphics look terrible, in my opinion. I don't get why they think flat graphics look better.

i see on Dish's feed of TWC on 214, the HD version has the LDL bar missing with the words and icons and number and bells and whistles of the LDL bar on. something tells me the LDL is glitched up as they went to "red mode" due to the wildfires in So Cal and another severe thunderstorm outbreak.

also on the SD feed, red TWC logo and blue LDL bar.

and LOT8s is still playing the normal rotation instead of the Storm Alert theme.

Edit: and as of 8 PM CDT , they went to regularly scheduled program, with the LDL bar glitch is on the HD feed

second and final edit: as of 8:15 PM CDT, the LDL bar is gone from HD feed and the SD LDL bar is back to the just blue with no info at the bottom.

Minor graphic change: The Severe Weather Central has changed from red to yellow.

TWC pre-empted the 8 PM Eastern/7 PM Central hour of Highway Through Hell.  They seemed to focus more on the flooding in the Northeast than the severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings elsewhere and also catered to Denver a lot, which confused me because there was nothing but a few scattered storms there!  Anyway, it was also strange because the long-form WAAT was being used instead of the traditional sidebar and LDL.

Maybe TWC really does take weather seriously now  surprisingly the only warnings that are severe or tornadic is in rural texas.

Noticed that TWC is back to using the main studio for WCL 11am-2pm.
Studio 1C is only used for the 4am WCL.

Dang it DirecTV! Why did you reach a new agreement in the first place?! I KNEW this was eventually going to happen! 
DirecTV was so close on toppling TWC like what they previously did with G4. TWC is like the "new" G4.

The link Adrian provided no longer exists.  However, for those of you wondering, TWC was going to air game show segments hosted by Al Roker.  From what it sounded like though, these would only be segments and not like an entire long-form slot, but I'm not sure.  Wonder why the article disappeared so fast?
