TWC ended coverage at 2am. CNN is live all overnight.  TWC is going to be live all day Saturday.

Why is it that TWC gets rid of all the good talent (I still haven't forgotten about Nicole Mitchell, Dave Schwartz, and Heather Tesch) and they bring in annoying OCMs?  People say that smartphones have brought TWC's ratings down, but I would have to think stunts like this have done a number on them as well.

   Really?  Where is she?  Oh, too bad.  At least Jennifer Lopez is back.

This is yet another example of how the DirecTV technology doesn't know how to deal with the different direction TWC has been going.  It took a while for it to adapt to the 60-second LFs.  Now, it's showing OCMs that aren't even listed on weather.com (TWC's website IIRC).  I notice that Heather Tesch's name even shows up in the DirecTV "Search for Shows by Person" feature.

TWC is live all day. They sent Chris Warren to Albany, NY to cover the potential severe storms.

TWC has ended their live coverage as of 11 PM EDT.  Not really sure why they sent Chris to Albany as it looks like not a lot happened there.  Guess they were expecting a little more action, but at least that means he wasn't in the studio interrupting anyone.

Dr. Greg Forbes is on early as TWC is talking about this news from a press conference on the El Reno, Oklahoma tornado.

"The National Weather Service has upgraded the tornado that struck El Reno, Okla. on Friday to EF5, and with a width of 2.6 miles, it is now the largest tornado on record, packing radar-estimated winds of at least 296 mph."

It is worth noting that the survey teams only found up to EF-3 damage, but these accurate mobile radar measurements had wind speeds way over the required 201 mph criteria for EF-5.  Thus, the upgrade was made.

TWC is starting tropical storm Andrea coverage. They pre-empted 11pm-11:30pm to talk about the tropical storm and have added the radar animation on the bottom left of the LDL.

We have Tropical Storm Andrea in the Gulf! If you have vacation plans check this out....I'll be on with Dr Postel and Todd Santos from 11-1130 and 1-2am! Heavy rain and gusty winds, maybe a few tornadoes and 2-4 water level rise in the NE Gulf is expected in the next 48 hours, then it heads up the east coast. What can you expect?

As of 10pm the national LDL is using the storm colors.

TWC is more like The Weather Channel when tropical cyclones affect the U.S.  They pre-empt when necessary, and the tropical system is often all they talk about.  I really wish they would do this more for severe weather season so that we don't have tornadoes in progress while TWC shows a stupid long-form program about tornadoes.  I will admit that their coverage of the recent tornadoes was good.  (Of course, how embarrassing TWC would feel if an EF5 tornado hit and they did not cover it!)  But I still feel like some of the coverage for the recent severe weather was "forced."

TWC should keep the live format, West Coast viewers are smart enough to know that Al Roker isn't on TWC at 7am PT.
