I can assure y'all that if TWC is bad enough, then just look for alternative solutions to get your weather information. WeatherNation is a starting point for national weather, but really, NOAA/NWS is one of the best places to get any sort of weather information in the US.

As for the music, if you miss it so much, then go back and watch Youtube clips of it, or just purchase the music off of iTunes. I listen to older TWC songs that I purchased all the time and while doing that, I look at various weather resources and that's plenty for me not to think of TWC but get the same feeling.
I've gone off on a journey to be a moderator at another forum, but this place will forever remain home for me~

To everyone in the Forums

I apologize for my posts and I'm deeply sorry for the way i acted today, i had a really bad day (something personal happened pm me if you want) and shouldn't have posted anything until i felt better.

I'm pumped for Hurricane Season! I enjoy following that much more than the Severe Weather Season because you have more time to watch tropical cyclones evolve and MUCH more time to prepare. With tornadoes, everything evolves too suddenly and you have very little time to prepare and react to the situation.

Although it has it's downsides, it can get REALLY frustrating when you have ANY hint of dry air or wind shear that greatly complicates the forecast.

The Weather Channel's Official 2013 Hurricane Season Forecast
The fact that Bryan Norcross is shouting/screaming the forecast is rather annoying.

Just a note that TWC did 3 days of extended live weather coverage which went started Monday going 4am-2am and they were live 4am Tuesday to 11pm Thursday. Today they are staying live 4am to at least 8pm.

MSNBC Exec Michael Rubin to lead TWC's Long Form Programming charge.

Quote
"Michael brings a great understanding of how original programming works at a news and information network, which he has demonstrated with his successful track record at MSNBC," Clark said. "We look forward to his impact on our expanding slate of originals."

I feel disgusted.

As far as I'm concerned, a "news and information" network should not try to be an "entertainment" network, too.

Just a couple of evenings ago, I was discussing with people too young to remember the days when cable networks actually had unique purposes.  The Learning Channel, Bravo, The Weather Channel, even Discovery and History... they all had their own unique niches.  Now, everyone's trying to outcompete everyone else by being pretty much the same as everyone else, and it saddens me.  Not only that, but this competition through similarity just means that the quality of programming gets worse and worse with each season.

They're going to air more "original" shows? I guess that means they're going to bring back Evening Edition, Afternoon Outlook, Weather Scope, etc... Those were just a few of the "original" shows. How can they call new longform "original"? That's a contradiction.

Niche marketing was doomed when Wall Street came around, I think. It's a world where you can get 'voted out' if the shareholders can prove you're not working in their best interests. The very fact that you're catering to a niche means you're not maximizing profitability. Ya gotta go for widespread appeal, or you're toast.

Everyone's fighting over the biggest piece of the pie now, while the rest of it spoils.

I can only wonder where television goes from here.  I thought "Jersey Shore" was as low as it gets... until Honey Boo Boo came along.
