I've been working a teleprompter when it crashes, it is NOT a pleasant feeling for me and I can only imagine what it's like for the anchor.  So, scripts are necessary.  Some stations use iPads now, to conserve papers.  But hey, iPads are still technology.

But, I agree that it doesn't need to be in "stacks."  Perhaps fold the papers in half.  I know those scripts aren't very wide.

I understand the difficulties, however when you're doing a live shot, don't hold all of those papers and wave them out, as it's a distraction, when your live shot is a few seconds away, then put the papers away somewhere and reference them if you actually NEED to on air. I'm just speaking from an honest standpoint - it's distracting. My disabilities prevent me from being focused on one thing if there's a major distraction around.... If the newscaster is trying to say something all the while waving a huge stack of papers in my face, I won't pay attention to the newscaster, I'll be watching the stack of papers moving around.

OCM's are way too underdressed these days...it's unbelievable. Back when I was a younger kid in the late 90's/2000's men wore suits, and women wouldn't dare look "easy" like they do now...

I will state this once again... These kinds of shots are completely unnecessary... They zoomed out very far so that Brian Norcross doesn't block the titlebars... really?

You wanna know what's unnecessary? Why do they have another Hurricane expert? :dunno: I think his name was Michael something I saw him last night.

I really liked this shot! It was to give the impression he was walking on the map. PLUS it filled the entire screen... not another one of those borders around the map as usual.

Being zoomed out is not the problem. It's having the wireless mic and IFB packs visible since the male OCMs no longer wear jackets.
Plus you have the light colored shirts way to bright at the studio desk,

The LDL on the national HD feed has switched to the darker storm mode.
Does the IS2 LDL have a similar change?

I'm assuming TWC will start 24/7 live coverage on Sandy sometime in the near future  :hmm:

Extended coverage of Hurricane Sandy has started.
The 2pm-3pm ET taped shows are preempted.
Jim Cantore and Mike Seidel are reporting from Singer Island, Florida.

Do you live in any of the areas possibly affected? If so, maybe they're using the dual feeds they used to do? Because here in Topeka, KS we just have Ice Pilots like normal at 3pmET/2pmCT.

It wouldn't surprise me if they've started using dual feeds again... so only those immediately affected will get real weather information, while the rest of the country gets to "enjoy" the longform programming that TWC considers to be the purpose of the network now.

Yes unfortunatley I'm in the path of Sandy for Monday-Tuesday.
A correction to the schedule, TWC went to tape at 3pm. They only did an extra hour of Day Planner.
WCL went to 5:30pm and is back at 7pm.

Whoa! Just found out we are getting back on air at 6:30, and going all the way to 11:30EDT! It's all about Sandy!

They're gonna go Irene Redux by this weekend, I can already see it. If they do I only have one request....

Please put Cantore somewhere exciting this time! His legendary talents reporting out in hurricanes was totally wasted not being somewhere like NC or VA where the real excitement was taking place during Irene. Eric and Mike made what Jim went through in NYC look like a Summertime rainstorm. I know why they sent him to NYC in the first place because of the earlier doomsday projections from the models and mainly for ratings sake, but they were gonna get high ratings regardless because they always do so I saw no sense in him staying up there.

OK, so I know it's a good thing that TWC is going into extended coverage, but does anyone else think it may be a little too early?  And this is just in general, not for Sandy specifically.  I mean, at this point, there's only so much they can talk about regarding "the future," and the forecasts are certainly likely to change.
