Does Carl Parker not have a normal timeslot anymore? I haven't seen him on Day Planner in quite a while. I thought he may have been on vacation, but I just saw him in a (what looked to be a recent, albeit prerecorded) "Earth Watch" segment.

Carl's too good not to have a normal timeslot, IMO. He knows what he's talking about and delivers the forecasts well. I hope TWC doesn't decide to "phase him out."

I'm wondering the same thing. I hope he's still on vacation. And I'm pretty sure that segment is prerecorded. (I just hope nothing happens to him, though. :S)

Really? I think he's one of the most informative OCMs still at TWC.

I'm glad he has a long tenure at TWC and he still has the momentum that he had after all these years, but I've not gotten into his style.

Also, I'm seeing on TWC that Vortex2 is returning again in 2011? I thought they were only going for 2009 and 2010.

V2 is not returning but according to the V2 facebook Kevin Smith posted

"It won't. Unless they put clips on the air from the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Some of the organizations that participated in V2 may be out in the field working on much smaller-scale data collection projects in coming years, but V2 itself is over. It will take the next several years to quality control and process all of the data we gathered!"

I like Carl but dont care for his climate stuff.


Vortex2 was only a two year project.  I doubt we see another one for at least 10 years. You can bet your butt that TWC will milk it and rerun stuff from it this year

I like Carl. He gives us a good explanation of weather events, why they happen, and so on.
