I'm not sure but I think new maps are coming. A few minutes ago I saw them using a colorful, awesome map for tracking the possible tropical storm or hurricane off the coast of south Carolina. Here's a picture of it:

I'm uploading a video of it soon and I will post it here. Sorry if this doesn't go here.

EDIT: Here's the video (sorry for the stretched screen): TWC - New maps?

I believe these were the maps they used before the relaunch.

These maps seem to appear to be very XL-like. Its about time they brought back the high quality maps!

Sorry about the image, it looked blurry so I changed it.

Anyway, even if these were the old maps, they still look better than the ones now. I also like how the water is animated to show waves. See, I like these kind of maps where there is a "real" feel to it. The plain white maps just didn't do well for me.

TWC has preempted long-form as of 8pm ET due to severe weather.
In the 11pm hour the video is full screen on the national HD feed so I'm guessing the is extra coverage in place of long form shows.
From the way I saw it, TWC planned to go to Catching Hell but pre-empted at the last second. I have no problem with showing more weather,  but they really need to use the squeezeback like normal for these situations. The translucent LDL on-screen makes it look kind of cluttered and it can at times obscure graphics (such as chyrons).

TWC has a lot to talk about.  Not only is there severe weather, there's also a new Tropical Depression in the Atlantic.  Glad to decided to pre-empt.  Also it looks like locals have been discontinued at this point in time.

That map looks like an error to me. Doubt they're going back to topographic maps at this point.

I had to roll my eyes this evening at some stuff I was seeing with Nick Walker.  He was trying to show the Tropical Update this evening (prior to the TD 1A upgrade late) and every satellite animation he used had incomplete and missing images, to the point where it completely failed on the second runthrough.
I don't think I have seen that much trouble with the computers since the power surge a few years ago.

As of 11:30 AM they are using the current information for TS Arthur in the bottom left hand corner in place of the WCL logo.

TWC is preempting Primetime Longform. I won't be surprise if they preempt the extended longform on the 4th of July due to TS Arthur.

Why are they airing those Severe Weather coverage promos?

Really like TruVu being used during "Hurricane Central" wish TWC used it universally over the current graphics set.

this happened almost 20 minutes ago.

That has just happened to me a couple minutes ago. At that same time, other channels were showing pixels so I believe the IS2 shows the green screen if there is a problem at the Cable Headend and the feed

Time for TWC to play "cover up" and let their ratings soar.  We, of course, go through this every year and like I say every year, I just wish TWC would treat all weather events equally.  In my opinion, a tornado outbreak (or even just a few warnings) is just as significant as a hurricane.  You're The Weather Channel, not The Hurricane Channel.

Arthur's now a cat 1 Hurricane, we should be heading to black/red mode as soon as i think maybe when Wake up with Al starts or AM HQ.
