TWC really needs to stop keeping the lower third graphic on the screen during forecast segments.
For some OCMs it's just their name on screen for the entire forecast segment. No channel does that.
It's bad enough they won't use 16:9 maps as they format for 4:3. The additional clutter is not needed.

Somehow, I do not seem to have a problem with this.  I do not see the Lower Thirds taking up that much space, and I actually think a little "hint" to follow an OCM on Facebook or Twitter is actually a good thing, especially given the rise of social media in this day and age.

They need to at least make it uniform for all OCMs and make sure the info is correct.  For Kyla they don't put up the "Connect with" graphic and just keep her name on the screen when she does have a FB page and Twitter ID.
For Kim they still use a link for a FB page with her married last name that does not exist because her TWC FB link uses Perez.

WTF is going on at TWC? Are they trying to mock tornadoes?
Tweet Powered Tornado

Maybe it's just me but I don't care for the Tornado Week promo where Maria is laughing as a tornado spins around in the studio either.

They can't keep OCMs yet they have money for this?
Again why would you want to mock something as dangerous as tornadoes?

Incredibly immature and stupid for TWC employees to do something like that.

Sadly, I don't think they're given any choice... or, indeed, any input in the matter whatsoever.

It's just funny how TWC gets away with this kind of attitude

Now they keep putting this larger then the lower thirds animated graphic at the bottom of the screen promoting a tornado week hashtag. It's very annoying.

TWC seems to be more concerned with their social media presence then weather.

Seriously though, I do hate twitter hashtags in general, and especially when people use them outside of twitter...

These days, it seems ratings and appeal are directly tied to Facebook likes and Twitter retweets.  It somehow doesn't surprise me to see this stunt being performed for Tornado Week.

Tom Niziol's last day covering winter storms was Friday and he left to go back home in NY.
He came back today to cover the next Winter Storm and is on the 6pm WCL.

The Dish Network IntelliSTAR unit is still cuing the reflecting TWC logo over the satellite LDL   I thought this would be fixed by now  :hmm:

I understand why they are doing it's just the way it's presented on screen is totally obnoxious.
There's no reason they need to have a giant animated lower third graphic on screen during forecast segments promoting a twitter hashtag.

The graphic is to tall and blocks the intensity chart on the bottom of maps.
Plus they already have the #tornadoweek hashtag in the box on the left side of the LDL.

At TWC, even the interns have wild fans during Tornado Week, at least according to what I just saw on air.

I Totally agree, if there is already a #TornadoWeek hashtag in the (Ad Space) they could have Coming Up graphic (7 Day Forecast, at :20 past for example) in place of the #hashtag graphic.
