It's about time.  First time in over a month I have seen them preempt their precious programming.

They won't preempt for a tornado outbreak, but they will for a minor tropical storm.  Go figure.

It seems to me like they are testing a change in the format of Day Planer.
At the start of the show instead of doing a preview with b-roll video and then showing the two OCM's,
they went right to Heather who gave a rundown for the show. After that she went right to Carl Parker for a Tropical Storm update.
Next Heather tossed to Todd Santos her co OCM today who did the Weather Headlines.
As you mentioned there was that hour by hour forecast in the first segment.
In the 3rd segment they did not do the 7 Day Forecast, that was moved to around 35min after.
The start of the second half hour had the same format as the start of the show.

I wonder if they got a new weather producer on day planner? The graphics seem a little bit different that usual IMO.

I noticed while the OCMs are at the maps on Day Planner the lower third for some of the segments says on the screen throughout.
Usually it comes on at the start then goes away.

Maybe someone behind the scenes had to be somewhere today and the fill-in just isn't as up to speed on what to do.

Reviewing a recording from 3pm, the lower third was only kept on screen during the new segments.
The first and last 30 minuets had almost the same format.
At 3:10pm and 3:40pm was the Big Picture Forecast for the nation followed by the Focus Forecast for big cities and regions.
3:25pm was the weekend forecast using the 7 Day Forecast maps style.
The difference was the 7 Day Forecast was moved from the 20min after to 30min after the hour.
