Title: Future of The Weather Channel
Post by: WeatherSTARIII on August 16, 2008, 01:13:42 AM
Now that NBC Universeal now owns TWC, what do you think will happen? Will they merge with NBC Weather Plus?

I moved this thread. It is not a question, comment, or suggestion pertaining to the site or forum.

That said, I do not expect many, if any, changes. I think everything will stay as is. I certainly don't think there will be any sort of merger of the two channels.

Sorry, I didn't know. I like your website by the way. I've been a TWC fan since 1989 and I also love weather and computers.

Nothing to be sorry about, my friend (my Dave impression!  :P ). We're all entitled to a view on this.  B)

BTW, thanks for the compliment. I'm glad you like the site!  :twothumbs: B)

Indeed. It seems everyday I have to hear some mention of TWC's merger with NBC, and I'm getting tired of it. (https://twctodayforums.com/forums/Smileys/1/getlost.gif)

What? Didn't CBS get the deal? Solosoul will be so upset now that TWC's not merging with CBS Sports. :cry3:

Oh god, he was a disaster. You guys would never want to know what he tried to do with me via IM.  :fear:

He also hacked my old message board and claimed to me that he was going to report my IP address to authorities for hacking a former user PhantomForce's forum when I've done absolutely nothing to it (not to mention I've never been to their forum at that time).

Who is solosoul?
A former TWCC user who started out nice but turned out he was a hacker and insulter. Fortunately, someone at another forum I go to called Solosoul's mother and he was banned from the computer from what I heard (this was about two years ago). Not sure if he'll ever return, though.

He still has his account at TaigaNet, but he hasn't been active since he "left" more than two years ago after the incident where TWCC got hacked (it turned out he was the one who did this), the same time he got his account closed at TWCC for the same reason.

I bet solosoul must either been caught downloading porno, failing school, not doing his chores, staying up all night, jamming up the computer with spyware and adware or anything else that got him into trouble.

To put in another way, it's not his computer. It's his mother's.

The Weather Channel Sale Wraps
Landmark Communications concludes sale of The Weather Channel to NBC Universal, two private-equity groups.

By Robert Marich -- Broadcasting & Cable, 9/12/2008 12:16:00 PM
Landmark Communications said Friday that it concluded the sale of The Weather Channel to NBC Universal and two private-equity groups in what previously described as a nearly $3.5 billion transaction.

NBCU’s partners are Blackstone Group and Bain Capital. The TWC assets include the cable network, weather.com, Weather Services International, Enterprise Electronics and Canadian weather outfit Pelmorex.

NBCU and its two partners won an auction in early July to buy TWC.

In Friday’s statement, Landmark also said it transferred the company’s other businesses -- which are all earmarked to be sold -- to a new entity named Landmark Media Enterprises. LME’s executive lineup is the same as Landmark Communications.

Landmark has a deal pending to sell its Nashville, Tenn., CBS affiliate, WTVF-TV, to Bonten Media Group, ahd the company said it is looking for a buyer for CBS affiliate KLAS in Las Vegas.
