Title: Few and scattered showers
Post by: Mike M on August 23, 2007, 04:40:01 PM
I see TWC user either "few showers" or "scattered showers" in the forecast when there is a chance for showers. Can someone tell me in simple terms what the difference is between "few" and "scattered"? I mean, doesn't scattered showers mean only a few showers will be in the area? I tried searching this but it gives me definitions that confuse me. I need to know so I know which of the two icons (few and scattered) to use in my weather reports when the forecast calls for a chance for showers.

"Scattered" means that the showers will be scattered about in your area, hence the name.

"Few" means there won't be a lot of showers in your area, they'll be few and far between.

LOL, its just two different waysof saying pretty much the same thing as far as I'm concerned.

BTW, I'm moving this thread. This question is more about TWC than weather.

Isn't this in a TWC related thread and not in a weather thread?

This is indeed a TWC related thread. But technically, it's both.

I don't really see a difference. I think Few is not as much as Scattered

I just think scattered showers is in a broad area while few means showers in a localized area.

Correct. Basically, "Few" means not a lot of showers, but "Scattered" means showers scattered over an area.

Thus also meaning not a lot of showers.  :D

I think of "Scattered" showers meaning a bit more showers than "Few" showers.

Does TWC still even forecast "Scattered Showers" these days? I haven't seen that in a very long time. "Few Showers" doesn't show up much these days either, but it does once in awhile. I've not seen "Scattered Showers" that I can remember since I think I saw it once early in the WATT-era, but not since then.
