from 2000-02 when they used to have a reverse shot at the end of all the Weather Center segments? They usually lasted about 10 seconds, with the opener music playing.
-
to clarify, I mean does anyone have video of any of these shots?
-
Define "reverse shot".
-
From 1998-early 2000, TWC used shots that were right above the meteorologists, and looked out into the studio. Starting sometime in 2000, they used shots that looked back towards the meteorologists from the back of the studio, so that is what I'm looking for. They used a standard camera for that from mid-2000 through probably 2003, when they started ending segments with maps instead of studio shots.
-
I know what you're talking about, but that practice became very sparse from late 2001 onward, and I don't think I have it on video anywhere.
-
Well, that's interesting, I figured it continued until 2003 or so,when they changed the openings for different programs. You said you had footage from September 10th, 2001. Is there any possibility that would include the segment closings for Weather Center?
-
The only segment closing on my HDD from back then is from after 9/11 with the American Flag logo:

I have other stuff, but that's back at home.

Yeah I miss the days when they'd show the above OCM shots at the studio, and shots of that transparent glass map to the left of the desk at Studio 1B (facing the GFC). They really began cut down on those shots by the time renovation began on the studio in late 2000.
-
I know what you mean with that transparent glass map, but did they get rid of it with the renovation in October of 1999 when they got rid of the Forecast Center?
-
I think that map *may* still have been there (below the row of clocks to the left of the desk), but I'm not sure as they rarely ever showed above OCM shots after the renovation, as I said earlier.
-
They actually used a lot of behind-the-desk shots, especially into 2006 when they renovated the behind-the-desk area and replaced all of the CRT screens with LCD screens. The practice dwindled after that year, but they still used the camera shot from time to time in 2007 and 2008 until they decommissioned the studio.

The map was still there to the end, as you can see.

Is it possible you could use a different format other than avi? I can only hear what is going on in that format, it has no video.
-
i can convert it to .wmv if u want.
-
That would be nice!
-
Here it is. I used mediaconverter to convert it so the quality is not too good...Credit for the video goes to Spring Rubber

Thank you! It was pretty good quality. There are a couple of videos with that shot on YouTube, and I do see the transparent map on those. I was just surprised, because I thought the Studio 1A space took up the area that included that map, but I guess not. That was the same map used that separated the old forecast center from 1998-99 from the main desk, right?
-
That map has always been in the same place there. Studio 1A was slightly off to the right of the map from that perspective.
