Did anyone watch the last part of First Outlook this morning? Kim Perez ended the show by saying that this is the last time they'll be broadcasting First Outlook from that set/studio. She said something along the lines of: "We'll be broadcasting from somewhere else." "I'm sure you'll like it over there as well."
This is VERY interesting information. Could we be possibly looking at First Outlook being the first show being broadcast from the the new Weather Channel HD building?
Post away with your comments and start programming those DVRs!!!!
-
Hmm..that is very interesting. I was unaware of any plans to begin broadcasting anything from the HD studio THIS soon.
Anyone know anything about this?
-
Who watches that show anyway? It's on WAY too early. I forgot that TWC was going to be in HD soon.
-
Adulthood=having to be up WAYYYY early sometimes. Be glad your still a child. ;)
-
Actually, I have read that First outlook does really good that early in the morning. Beats out CNN. That is sort of why they added the extra hour in the beginning (where just one OCM hosts).
Tyler also mentioned something about this. This is pretty exciting. If I remember correctly, all the articles posted insisted as Your Weather Today and Evening Edition being the first. This is exciting information :)
-
What is up with Tyler? Why is he actively taking part in current TWC discussion? Some admin he is. He'd be out of a job if he were my co-admin. :furious:
-
I think he said he doesn't want to come here anyomore.

I thought Tyler was banned from here?
Anyway, I like the graphics and current set of First Outlook, but I'll be looking forward to the new set on Monday.
-
No, Tyler isn't banned from here. He has however, lost my friendship. He's been very devious and underhanded (if you want to find out just how much so, search link: twcclassics at Google). He was a big baby over the changes that Matt and I agreed to. He literally acted like a two year old thumb sucker. Obviously, the change has been beneficial to both sites. Now he's trying to stick it to me by intentionally starting and discussing topics related to THIS era of TWC. He invites people to TWCC under the pretense that its a site to talk about current goings on. Thats unethical, and a lie.
-
Anyways..back to the topic....
I wonder if there will be any other changes on Monday, or it will just be FO? I could have swore I read that EE and YWT was before FO. But, I guess Kim said we should like it.
-
I hope this doesn't mean a new map set. Whenever TWC changes something, 10:1 it's usually for the worst.
-

I think they wouldn't. They may. But didn't they, in the recent couple of years, already change the maps?
-
I wouldn't be surprised to see the maps changed again. In fact, I'd be surprised NOT to see it.
-
I do still have an account here, but have chosen not to utilize it for obvious reasons. However, I will not let Gary bash me without a rebuttal.

I've already expressed my thoughts to you and Matt about the agreement you two came up with, so drop it already for God's sake.
What are you talking about? Isn't that why both sites have an opposing section (TWCC has a "current" thread, and TWCT has a "classic" thread)?? I have every right to start a thread there in that articular "current" forum.

Ahh, sweet misunderstanding.
I didn't say you didn't have a right to post in the Current board. Post away till your fingers turn blue! What I said is very different. You DO NOT have the right to advertise TWCC as something that it is not. That is deceptive and malicious. TWCC is NOT a place for discussing current TWC. It's mission, since coming online, has been to be a place for CLASSIC TWC. Why not work on advertising your site for what it is? I can't imagine that you'd be so uncomfortable with that as to try luring people to your site under false pretenses.

Guys, I should mention that Vivian Brown just announced that after 11 years of Weather Center in Studio 1B, today is their last day in that studio, but they're going to be staying in that room for right now while they work on the transition to HD. It sounds like all shows might be moving to Studio 1A (the big desk) during this upcoming transition period. I wonder what they could possibly be doing that requires them to decommission these old sets. AFAIK, nothing will be happening in the old building in regards to HD.

1B has the HD cameras in it. They are problaly moving the resouces such as the camera chains over to the HD studio.
-
Doesn't the Weekend View/Abrams & Bettes studio have HD cameras as well? (As mentioned in a previous posting of mine) Does this mean that those shows will move out of their studios, too?

I believe they do...wow very interesting news! i wonder if the PM Edition and Weather Center backdrops will be the current day planner backdrop? those are the only two shows that broadcast from studio 1b, right (other than wwc, and pm edition weekend)? oh i wonder what backdrop the first outlook hours will use. ahh. can't wait to find out.
-
If they follow through with using 1A, Weather Center would use the cloud backdrop, and PM Edition would use the evening backdrop, just as they do now.
I'm curious what they'll do with First Outlook and possibly WV and A&B. It sounds like First Outlook might be moving to the new studio, because why would Kim say "I think you'll like it," if they're just moving to 1A, a studio we've seen for 7 years?
-
There are only....... 3 HD cameras in the current building...

true, but IIRC...back when they were trying out the side angle view PM Edition used the day planner side backdrop throughout the whole time slot of pm edition.
though again, things tend to change very often.
-
No, they used the evening backdrop, just as they do now. Perhaps you're remembering a night they forgot to change the backdrop; they do that at least about once every few weeks. A few weeks ago, they did it two nights in a row!
-
Well, guys, we might be coming up on the last segment from Studio 1B; I guess we'll know for sure when Weekend Outlook comes on or if Rich and Sharon say something.

/me fires up tuner to record segment.
Edit: Rich or Sharon mentioned nothing about moving to a new studio......
-
Well, they didn't say anything.
Now we wait until 4:30 ET... :thrilled:
-
Well, they didn't say anything.
Now we wait until 4:30 ET... :thrilled:
So what are the logistics behind this?
If we see Weekend Outlook at 4:30 AM ET and they're at Studio 1B (GFC desk), then that means that they will be there all throughout the weekend, and theoretically that means whoever hosts EEWC on Sunday night/Monday morning will the last OCM to host at this studio?
If we see Weekend Outlook at 4:30 AM ET and they're at Studio 1A (big desk), then that means that Rich and Sharon were the last OCMs to host at this studio, and all shows this weekend will be in 1A?
Do I have this right?
Also, where does the Weekend View/A&B set play into this?
-
Either what you said, or maybe the construction crews won't move in until Saturday afternoon, making Weekend Outlook the last show from that studio, but we'll have to wait and see. I really don't think me staying up through the end of WO would be a wise idea though; I need to get my sleep schedule back on track.
As far as I know, The WV/A&B studio seems to be staying for now since Mike and Steph didn't say anything about it; they're usually pretty chatty about that stuff. Who knows for sure, though? Anything's possible.
Kyle, as I posted before, there seems to be an HD camera in the WV/A&B studio based on an interview with Dr. Forbes that was done near the key wall in there. Perhaps there's 2 HD cameras in 1B and one in the WV/A&B studio? Could they have bought more since you left TWC without us hearing about it?
-
Well, it's Weekend Outlook time, and Raymond is still in Studio 1B...
I guess whenever it happens will be a complete surprise.
-
WWC is still in Studio 1B this afternoon.
I guess the "wait and see" game continues.
-
Anyone else find it odd that Dr. Forbes has done all of his segments from the key wall the past two days. I know he's done it in the past, but usually he returns to the Expert Desk at some point, but not time time. Could something be going on over there two that has taken that part of the studio out of commission?
-
Well it's monday. Did the changes happen?
-
Is it really monday?
-
Only in Gilville.
-
Only in Gilville.
What do you mean?
-
Again, is it REALLY monday?
-
Isn't it? I thought it was.
-
Again, is it REALLY monday?
No its sunday but monday is in 13 hours and 35 mins
-
Isn't it? I thought it was.
Better than waking up and thinking it was Saturday when in reality its Sunday and you have to be at work 3 hours ago.
-
Again, is it REALLY monday?
What do you think I meant when I said it was only Monday in Gilville?
LOL@ Kyle. Yeah, been there done that.

Okay, that's a dead proposition; Dr. Forbes is back at the Expert Desk today.
At any rate, I had a dream this morning that they moved the old big desk over to where the expert desk was and turned the rest of the studio into the old 2001-2006 CNN Headline News set. :whistling:
-
Provided TWC didn't lie to us again, :P The 8PM ET hour of PM Edition Weekend will be the last 2-person show from studio 1B, with presumably EEWC being the last ever show from that studio.
-
Well, EEWC, presumably the last show from 1B, is on the air now with Cheryl Lemke as OCM with the great Dwight Milliner in Master Control, who introduced the show with that violin-sounding song from the current playlist. Is that a Bradley Joseph song?
-

How do you know Dwight is in master tonight, did they mention it once tonight?
-
He has a very distinctive style of playing LF music when they come back from break and go to break, in addition to using non-standard transitional effects; Adam Berg and Bob Stokes (when he was still at TWC) have identified him for us in the past; Cheryl's not the sort to do that, and I'm guessing she also won't say anything about the studio if this is indeed their last broadcast from there.

The only song with a violin I can think of this month is "A Great Day" by Miles Stiebel. Here's a satellite clip. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te8uSRdQ3ZI)

Yeah, that's it. Thanks for the ID.
-
Well, possibly the last broadcast from 1B has concluded, and Cheryl mentioned nothing about the studio...
-
That was an early finish. Somehow they wound up running two minutes ahead of schedule.
-
Well, it finally happened. Studio 1B is over and done with. Nick Walker is doing the first hour of First Outlook from the big desk. (1A)
-
And yes, the thing that Kim and Jen accidentally told us that "they think we'll like" is indeed nothing but studio 1A (big desk).
:whistling:
-
Why are they using the YWT backdrop? They have an orange backdrop they can use (or is the FO backdrop smaller than the others?). The yellow backdrop doesn't match with First Outlook's orange graphics.
-
They started with the EE backdrop and then switched to the YWT backdrop.
Only the side wall has an FO backdrop.
-

You may be right about that, however I want you to know that everything that takes place in master, no matter what the event, let it be a music change, element change, missing music, missing lower third, extra lower third, missing bug, anything that doesnt go to the preset schedule at all must be logged, which is a pain in the ass meaning almost all MCO's must stick to the schedule set by the Traffic Coordinator (Karen Frederick) she plans everything from which commercials will play back to which music, bugs, and elements are used. These are usually schedule a week in advance. This meaning, it could really be anyone.
-
A lot has changed in master these days though. The new production format is almost akin to what can be done from the normal control room, and there has to be some explanation for why there's such a difference in what a master production looks like at different times of the day. Before June 2006, almost every master production did seem the same, but then all of a sudden we started seeing all kinds of odd camera shots being used as well as the use of transitional effects. Things really took off in June 2007 when the aforementioned new production format started, and shortly thereafter, master gained access to the library of production music that the normal control room had been using since 2006, and we've seen a whole bunch of different production styles come out of master. What could explain why the Saturday edition of PM Edition Weekend is produced so poorly, almost always without music and with tons of glitches, but yet the Sunday edition of PM Edition is produced with tons of music, unique transitional effects, and good production. One night, Adam Berg even complimented Dwight on "his choice" of music for the show.
Has something changed with Master protocol?
-
Going back and looking at my First Outlook recordings from Monday, I came across this shot they used right before going to break at 5:06 AM ET.

-
I was going to post that shot, too.
-
Speaking of shows now being broadcast from the big desk, it'll be nice seeing Weekend Outlook broadcasted from there, for the first time in 2 years or so.

That's always been one of my favorite shots. I have no clue why though:P But, I just like it. Glad they showed that shot.
-
BTW, does First Outlook still show what's coming up on Your Weather Today at the end of the 5 AM CT hour, even though they moved to the big desk (the same set YWT is on)?
-
Yeah, the YWT anchor stands at the Winter Weather/Hurricane Central podium.
