Title: How to make a WeatherStar4000 emulation with the MASSIVE icons?
Post by: Rubidium on February 18, 2025, 09:42:55 PM
I want to make an emulation just like that one.

To clarify, the style was used from April 17-29, 1991.

I remember theweatherchazz used it a few times in his emulations.

Video 1 "Personalized WS4000 for Green Bay WI" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t46JyiqfVwg)

Video 2 "Overnight Storms" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbbeySUw_48)

Video 3 (from TWC Classics). This one isn't an emulation but it's in the style. (https://twcclassics.com/watch.php?file=the-calling)

Thank you for helping.

The simulations like Charles made were done in programs such as Adobe After Effects—which I'll be honest, I haven't used since CS6 because of the subscription model the current version uses. If you need a cheaper option, I think it may be possible to put something of the sort together in a program like DaVinci Resolve (free, or if you have a paid program like Final Cut, that works too) using layered images and text, but I've never personally tried that route.

Side note.. I know at one point that that style was part of a larger planned update for the WS4000 Simulator back in like 2015 or so.. but I do wonder if or when that will happen  If it does end up happening, that would definitely make things a lot easier.
