I recorded a low of 78 this morning.  Dew point around 80 to low 80's.  Totally miserable here.

I recorded a 105, yesterday and a low of 79.  The official was 100.  Some rain this morning and less humid, but still hot.  It does feel much better, though.

2007 was a very hot summer, all of our record highs this week have been from that year.

It is still in the lower to middle 90's, but the dew point isn't that high.  There is a big difference between dry heat and moisture laden heat.

    Public Information Statement

Statement as of 7:04 PM CDT on August 22, 2010

... Update on statistics about our unusually hot Summer...

While hot and humid weather is the norm for this time of year... the
degree of heat and humidity this Summer continues to mount a charge
at the record books.

One of these is the number of consecutive days at or above 90
degrees. As of today... August 22nd... the following is the number of
consecutive days at or above 90:

                   total record/year current ranking

Evansville... 16 31 / 2007
Paducah... 35 38 / 1993 2
Poplar Bluff... 25 20 / 2007

The total number of days these areas have reached 90 degrees or
higher...

                    total record/year

Evansville... 57 78 / 1953,54
Paducah... 60 81 / 1953
Poplar Bluff... 70 70 / 2010

Poplar Bluff Airport records only go as far back as 2000... but so far this
has been the hottest year for them with 70 days at or above 90.

And here are the hottest days of the 2010 Summer...

Cape Girardeau MO... 101 - August 4
Carbondale IL... 103 - August 4
Duquoin IL... 101 - August 4
Evansville in... 102 - August 4
*hopkinsville KY... 101 - August 4
*murray KY... 103 -August 3 & 4
Paducah KY... 104 - August 3 & 4, & August 12
Poplar Bluff MO... 102 - August 4 & 5
Providence KY... 104 - August 5

*kentucky mesonet sites.

This week will be a transition week to lower temperatures and
humidities. Temperatures and humidities will not be quite as high
later in the week. In fact... high temperatures will be mostly in
the lower to mid 80s Thursday... with lows in the 50s.

Final statistics will not be ready until September... but it
appears the Summer of 2010 will be among the ten hottest on record
at Paducah... Evansville... and Poplar Bluff.
