The weather conditions below are not current. They are from early this afternoon.

Normally I'd post southern New Jersey reports, but since I was at Pennsylvania at the time gathered the data, and that there was a major weather event present, I used a metro map centered on Philadelphia and a forecast for a Bucks County city right outside of Philly. The current conditions come from Philadelphia Northeast Airport.

In the wake of the late autumn storm that brought a mixed bag of precipitation to the northeastern
United States late Saturday into early yesterday, strong westerly winds and variably cloudy skies
can be found regionwide this afternoon. Winds in most locations can see gusts reaching as high as 50 MPH
before diminishing tomorrow.

Here is the latest weather statement from the National Weather Service forecast office
in Mount Holly, New Jersey:

STRONG WINDS TO IMPACT THE REGION TODAY AND TONIGHT...

A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1:00 AM EASTERN STANDARD TIME ON TUESDAY.

A strong cold front has moved through the region. This front, coupled with a developing low pressure system over southern New England will produce strong winds across the entire region through tonight.

West to northwest winds in the 15 to 25 MPH will increase to 20 to 30 MPH and remain strong and gusty through tonight. Wind gusts to 50 MPH are expected.

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph or stronger are expected. Winds of this magnitude can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Downed tree limbs or trees could also take down power lines.
Winds are typically stronger on bridges and other elevated structures. Therefore, use extra caution.

PLEASE NOTE:
Voorhees, New Jersey did not provide its latest weather observations, so that location isn't included on
the metropolitan area map. Millville, New Jersey and Wildwood, New Jersey did not provide their complete
weather observation data for this hour, so I'm using Glassboro, New Jersey and Willingboro, New Jersey
instead. For a northeastern regional weather forecast for today, see the December 3rd weather report post
in the New York City weather thread.

A fast-moving clipper system is bringing more snow to the area. Currently about an inch or so is on grassy surfaces outside my window. The roads are mainly just wet. The snow should end by midnight tonight, with total accumulations no more than about an inch for the greater Philadelphia area.

COLD morning! Right now it's 13° in Mount Holly, with a wind chill of 7! That will change though, as it may go up as high as 60° by Monday.

Today turned out to be much warmer than yesterday. Some locations have approached 70° or perhaps higher, something we would normally see in late April-early May. This is the first time that I remember having these warm temperatures this early in the year since 2002.

Here are some clips that I have recorded:

Tuesday, February 5

IntelliStar, 4:08 PM
IntelliStar, 5:18 PM

Wednesday, February 6

IntelliStar, 2:58 PM
Weather Star 4000 Emulator, 4:15 PM

Tonight is not very cold, but the 25+ mph winds are making the wind chills at least 15-20° colder. It will remain quite windy through the night. Tomorrow will also be a breezy but not as bad as it is now. A wind advisory is in effect until 12AM tonight. Wind chills overnight may drop below zero in some spots.

After a week of cold temperatures and wintry precipitation, the temperatures today are mild and a good 10-15° above average (normally we'd see temperatures in the low 40's). A cold front will move through tonight, causing a somewhat rapid decrease in temperatures through this evening. For tomorrow we will have temperatures near or slightly below average, but the forecast for the remainder of the holiday weekend calls for a return of warmer than average conditions.

Currently mainly snow is falling, but later today the snow is expected to mix with freezing rain and sleet. In fact, some areas farther south are already seeing it. A winter storm warning is in effect for the greater Philadelphia area and the Lehigh Valley. Southeastern New Jersey and southern Delaware are under a winter weather advisory.

The snow has changed over to rain for most of southern New Jersey, but SE PA is still seeing some freezing rain. The winter storm warning for greater Philadelphia remains in effect until 1AM tonight. The winter weather advisory that was in effect for most of southeastern New Jersey has been discontinued.

The 5-day forecast isn't included in this report as I have already posted in my previous update from this morning. Little changes have been made to the forecast since, so I didn't find it necessary to include it.

The powerful storm system that brought snow and windy conditions to the Great Lakes region as well as
southern Ontario in Canada and rain and windy conditions to the northeastern United States coastal region
is exiting during this overnight period.

Now, skies are clearing out and behind it we have cold and windy conditions across much of
the Philadelphia metropolitan area. It isn't really that cold, but wind chill readings will make it that way.
There has been flooding and wind damage across the region and I'm sure we'll hear some reports on them
in the coming hours either on The Weather Channel or on the local news.

I will put together the graphics pages as soon as possible.
