Mississippi weather (except southern parts of the state)
« on: January 07, 2011, 06:27:33 PM »
All of Mississippi will be covered here except Amite, Wilkinson, Pike, Walthall, Pearl River, Stone, Greene, Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties (SW counties bordering Louisiana and the Miss. Gulf Coast).

A pretty potent weather event is appearing more and more likely across areas covered in this thread for Sunday into Monday. Winter Storm watches are up for the entire area. Northern Mississippi is forecast to receive 4-8 inches of snow. Central and southern areas are looking at a 1-4 inches of wintry mix.

After the storm passes, temperature will plummet for much of the week. Highs will only be in the 30s north to 40s south across most of the area and lows in the 20s.

Are extreme northern parts of the state included? I mean EXTREME. Here is where I live....(see attachment) :P

Anyway, most of North MS is under a Winter Storm Watch. 3-8" of snow possible.

Hot and sticky weather will be the norm across the central Mississippi region for the rest of the week. Southern areas may see rain chances increases thanks to a wave in the Gulf that's expected to develop later this week and trek northward.

New life for this thread.

Looks like there's a chance of some strong storms from the Delta to Columbus down to the I-20 corridor.

For the rest of the week, a frontal boundary will settle in the area and keep rain chances up. Highs will mainly be in the upper 80s to low 90s.
