A drier airmass settles over the northeast today... leading to
relative humidity values dropping into the lower 20s. A steady
northwesterly wind may also produce wind gusts up to 20 mph.
These... combined with drying fine fuels... may lead to an increased
fire threat today.

Please use caution today with any ignition as a fire may grow
and spread rapidly under these conditions.

* Hazards... strong wind gusts.

* Winds... southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Timing... highest winds late this afternoon and tonight. Gusts
may decrease at times during mid to late afternoon as a steady

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dry air mass will combine with gusty northwest winds this
morning and early this afternoon to create conditions more
conducive for the spread of wildfire.

Relative humidity values should decrease to around 30 percent by
late morning... with gusts to around 25 mph. High pressure then
builds east from the Ohio Valley with gradually diminishing winds
in the afternoon.

Gusty west to northwest winds through this afternoon combined with
low relative humidity will result in an enhanced fire spread.

Winds will gust up to 20 mph through this afternoon and relative
humidity will fall to between 20 and 30 percent. This combination
along with drier fine fuels will create conditions more conducive
to fire spread through this afternoon if ignition occurs.

With a warm... relatively moist airmass flowing over the colder
ocean waters... fog will form this evening... and may become dense
late tonight. Severely reduced visibility... along with sudden
changes in visibility... are possible tonight. If driving... slow
down... use your low beam headlights... and leave plenty of distance
ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed.
