Some rather significant ridging and warm air has smashed the heat records for today in Grand Forks. The local office recorded a high of 56, breaking the old record of 51. The airport had a high of 58.

Yet another record-breaking day here in Grand Forks, where we broke our record high by 1 degree. Things won't be so pleasant over the next few days, however, as low pressure builds in and brings windy and snowy conditions to the region. Gusts to 40 mph, along with snowfall accumulations between 1-3 inches are possible on Saturday.

It's a busy day up in Grand Forks. A Winter Storm Warning and a Blizzard Watch are currently in effect. There is a very real possibility that the city could be buried under 18 inches of the white stuff by Wednesday night.

Now that I am officially back on campus, this tab will be updated much more frequently.

Pleasant week in store. Highs climbing no higher than 82, and dropping no lower than 71 over the next seven days. A good chance of thunderstorms on Fri/Sat.

Seems like everyone has seen their first 90(s) of the year except down here, not that I'm complaining. I want them to stay away for as long as possible. I'll take these 70s to low 80s we've been having over 90s any day.  :cool2:

Severe thunderstorms likely tonight, with the main band hitting Grand Forks around 10-11 PM. An isolated tornado and wind threat is possible, but the main hazard will be very large hail, with some stones up to 3 inches possible tonight. I will try to get some video and photos of the aftermath tonight.

The only three storm reports from last night's episode. A lot of CG lightning strikes were viewed due north of town.
