Title: LAT48's, part tres
Post by: lfmusiclover on July 07, 2008, 06:08:02 PM
Since most changes (if not all) in regards to the LF are in place, I thought now might be a good time to do another LAT48's.

It will be on Wednesday, at 7:58PM ET. If this time is a problem, let me know and I will change it to whatever is more acceptable.

Questions, comments, etc. are welcome!

Yeah, let's do that!

I'll (most likely) be available. If not, I'll set my VCR for it now.

I've already told everyone via e-mail that it is Wednesday, so I think its probably too late to change the date. Just give us your clip when you can.  :twothumbs:

So, uh, my tuner is still broken, so I can't participate.

Sooooo, I was thinking maybe a 2 minute "Tyler flavor," where there are clips of the following: Tyler picking his nose; Tyler beating the shit out of his brother; Tyler holding a piece of paper with the word "GARY" on it lighting it on fire; and many more misc. clips. Would this type of video suffice?

As long as Gary is fine with it, I'd like to see it. :D

Nah. That's the "FEATURE PRESENTATION." Can't get rid of that, otherwise, no one here would enjoy it. Durr.

Goes along with your personal title :P
I figured, for the safety of the public at large, I'd take out the part of my "twisting" my bag of nuts. And no, it isn't recommended you try that at home... unless CE is there to oversee such an event.  :shades:

Not necessarily. The place I stay at in Myrtle Beach has this lock mechanism on both the outlet on the wall the the jack on the tv to prevent you from undoing the wires. :glare:

Title: Re: LAT48's, part tres
Post by: Tyler on July 08, 2008, 11:17:07 AM
True. And I thought of that. :P

However, rather than jacking the hotel's cable lock system, and having them potentially discover it, and have me pay for it (yes, I checked, and their "MASTER CABLELOCK" system was in the Terms of Use on the back of the long receipt)... I spent my days at the beach looking at hot women passerbyers, etc.  :foolish:

It will be a very close call for me tomorrow. I'm going to be leaving for a friends house right around when this takes place, and won't be back home until Sunday. If I do get a clip, you won't get it until Sunday.

Maybe I should ask my grandparents to record a clip of the intellistar in Honolulu (they're on vacation). However, it will be a taped with a camera and not a tuner. :(

I won't make any guarantees. My grandparents might be out at lunch around the time of the LAT48's (since it will occur at 1:57 PM Hawaii time)

So Gary, do you know if anyone with a junior, 4000, or XL is participating in this?

If you're using Windows Me and above, you can run the video through Windows Movie Maker and compress the file down significantly.

Hi all.  Finally, a "Local Across the 48's" that didn't slip my mind:
https://rcpt.yousendit.com/588005710/4e1904c540d04b9eb47d2bcfbc6a0e17

If anyone's eager for an XL fix, I doubt you'll be disappointed.  I let the video run a bit longer than usual so I could get in a glimpse of the black bar, among other things.

And yes, it is raining cats and dogs outside right now.  <_<

Great videos, Andrew and Grgeiger. Always nice to see the legacy STARs in action.

This is an interesting TCF glitch on Grgeiger's Junior that I noticed:

Wonder what caused the background to fail for a split second?

I have no idea how much longer that Jr will be running. Cable company is upgrading like crazy. I hear various rumors they are eventually going to combine our system with another town 30 miles away.. then I hear other rumors they are going to keep everything here.. I assume the Junior will be retiring.

Does anybody have any ideas how many Jr's are still running?

Here are my clips:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4mhkiFnPfM - It's a camera recorded clip, but it's better than nothing. ;)

Emulated version (I had my VCR set to record my IS when I was recording the 4000 emulator): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0TlyQB5JyE Taken at the exact same time as the real LF, with the WeatherSTAR 4000 emulator. Contains the A&B promo, emulated Station ID, EE LF intro, the LF (obviously), and then the top of the hour bumper. Also features the same song that played on the actual LF, "Allusion" by Chris Geith.

Haha, that's neat Stephen. I actually did something similar. I emulated my junior, 3000, and 4000 all at the same time as the LAT 48's. I even emulated the station ID on all of them, only with the older lake station ID. Not the new one. :(

Alright, at this point the LAT48's page ain't happening. One of you already removed your video clip, one of you uploaded to YouTube, and one of you expects me to download a 33MB file. None of which is going to work. That leaves me with two videos, Billy's and Steve's, and that's not worth my time.

and one of you expects me to download a 33MB file.
What's wrong with a 33 MB file? I know it's somewhat big, but at least it has a good quality.

I guess you forgot about the part where I have to upload the damn thing to my server. Downloading is no problem. But upload rates are half, if not less, than upload speeds.

Other than that, I just don't think its fair to be expected to deal with such huge files.

If Jay wanted me to have his video how come he didn't contact me? Or better yet come and post it here (AFAIK he IS a member here).

I've been looking all over for a LAT48s-III thread ever since Wed and couldn't find it - only way I knew it was happening was the e-mail that I got.  So I recorded it, then converted it and produced it.  Then I clicked on CONTACT US http://www.twctodayforums.com/contact.php and sent it off, attached, assuming that it was received.  Then today, or was it yesterday, I put it on YOUTUBE to go along with my other local forecasts so that people can see this stuff on my youtube page.  I have never contributed to this new site (I did to TWCClassics) and since I have an XL (yes, the capital of Vermont does not rate an Intellistar), my vids are "something different".  Any of my XL vids I posted on my youtube page can be put on this site by the admin, and may be viewed by all.  This is the second LAT48s I've participated in, and actually was home that night and remembered the e-mail.  If you would like me to do something else to get the video out, I will.  Please, enlighten me.  I'm a newbie here  in regards to contributing/posting/whatever, but have been watching TWC since the late 1980s.

And I could'a sworn this thread was NOT here the other day.

Hi jay,

First of all, I'm glad your beocming active here, and contributing videos. We always love to see videos of the less popular STAR's. I thank you for giving me permission to post your videos on the site. It is greatly appreciated. As for your e-mailed clip, as I said in the other thread I did not receive that until about 4 minutes prior to my post in that thread. Why it took so long is completely beyond me. Generally, YouTube videos are fine on a day to day basis. But on big projects they are kinda difficult because I usually end up with a half dozen videos I have to convert to .wmv. Obviously, that can get a little time consuming, so I choose to go with .wmv so that its pretty much as simple as putting the videos on the page and being done. The whole goal is to provide a great site without having to bog myself down with work to do.

As for this thread, well, its been here since Wednesday.  :rofl2: :sunglasses:
