Title: TWCZach's Emulations and Drawings
Post by: Zach on September 06, 2008, 07:06:40 PM
I have been learning to recently use PowerPoint.

I have developed a PowerPoint XL v2 Emulator
It comes complete with the fonts I used, intro from apoecker (with permission), and "Native Tongue" courtesy of this site.
A station ID I made is also included (audio courtesy twcclassics.com).
It even comes with a video I made of it in action.

DISCLAIMER: All weather used in the demo video was made up.

Gary, I will remove this if you don't want me using your songs. B)

I will also need 4 More Bet Testers to improve transitions and to make a radar screen.
PM Me if you want to be a Beta tester.

And here's my IntelliSTAR Graphic I made in GIMP. LDL Cortesy Billy Miller (beanboy89).
The colon by Dew Point was a typo.

I'm sorry, I had to laugh when something is played at a high rate of speed.

Anyways, excellent work on that 4000 emulator!

It's not the final product. I just need to find out how to get the forecast images shrunk down to be like a real IntelliSTAR. :hmm:

Also, don't mind the DBS logo and the fake data please. :P

DBS Logo by Michael Raymond, not me.

Zach, if you don't mind me asking, what program did you use to put this together? I'm trying to do one of my own but can't get the "box" to not come up with a white background. :wall:

Nice work!    Wouldn't it be foggy with a humidity of 100% and the dew point the exact same as the temperature?
To my knowledge, it doesn't have to be foggy for the humidity to be at 100% and I know for a fact that if the humidity hits 100%, the dew point will be the same as the air temperature.

Here's a link to the emulator: http://files.filefront.com/WeatherSTAR+XL+v2+Emulatotzip/;11709820;/fileinfo.html (http://files.filefront.com/WeatherSTAR+XL+v2+Emulatotzip/;11709820;/fileinfo.html)

I made that particular image in GIMP, but I use Photoshop 7 now. :)
Can you please make me one with Comcast as the cable company, 47 as the channel number, and the code at the top say 022087 - I've got a background attached? And with the same background, please make a slide saying "CALL YOUR FAVORITE NEWSPAPER OR RADIO STATION AND ASK FOR THE WEATHER CHANNEL" without quotes? Background is attached.

Your artwork is very good, BTW.

Andy, as for the editing part, I discovered an error made with permissions, it has been fixed.

As for requests, I don't accept requests of artwork. Sorry.

For sure i was bored to do this  :whistling:

Original image attached. What i did was just put the file on my cameras card, AV out to my VCR, VCR to my tuner via coax and bam.

This is the final version but with two quirks that should be unnoticed if you dont have good sight  :P (no offense to anyone lol)

IntelliSTAR v2 Emulation w/ Blue LDL - October 24, 2010 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cwn-yB8i1t4#)

Notes
The XL icons are intentional
The two quirks are the ad crawl gaining speed at the end of it and the first forecast slide has the forecast text fading in instead of the title "Local Forecast"

I'm absolutely floored by this! Almost spot-on! Fantastic job! B)  Keep up the good work!!

LOL! Kinda reminds me of a picture comparison: "Which is better? Time Warner Cable's or Verizon FiOS's?"

Great job, BTW.

Theyre as close as can be on my end :dunno: i simply did some line tracing and it came out fine, unless you took a 640x480 image of a map.. the one i posted was 720x480

Don't mind the XL icons, but I think something became really corrupt on the October 23, 2007 update for these two IntelliStars...  :P

I hope they dont see this as promotion to use the squeezeback more, but I do hope DirecTV and them work together to expand that LF app of theirs to have such support for it

Hey TWCZach those weatherstar xl icons are amazing, where can I download the animated ones? I saw your post of the public download somewhere here but the .zip file is corrupted.
