Here's an XL I decided to stew up in photoshop. Tell me what you think! :)
-
That looks excellent!
BTW, you're not getting an XL anymore? They are upgrading to an IntelliStar
-
That looks like the real TWC
-
WOW!! Almost looks like the real thing!! Thanks for sharing it!
-
Wow, that does look like the real Intellistar on TWC!!
Nice!!

It's an XL not an IntelliStar. ;)
-
Yeah, I meant to say that. Thanks!!

Thanks for the comments guys! I'll put some more up soon as I get the time.

Things have been happening, like the background sometimes gets really messed up and the animations lag. Also, the Satellite LF has been playing intermittently every hour.
-
Okay, here's the current conditions around the area. Enjoy!
-
Still looks real. Nice job Robert!

Here's an IS Imitation using the IS goodies.

Here's a Beta version of a project that I'm working on right now:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do_0aooDhwg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do_0aooDhwg)
There a few things missing, just to let you know and sorry for the blurriness of the video... I can't figure out how to export a clear video in AE.
Tell me what you think!

Here's what I think WeatherStar XL version 4 will look like, If there will ever be a version 4:

Here's a IS Local Forecast Segment with a Winter storm forecast and image on the side.
-
The blue font is way to bright, and the LDL needs some work. :twothumbs:
-
that looks great!

Here's a screen shot of my possible HD star emulator that's in the works. This project may be put off as I have little time to work on this with school and other things.
Right now, I'm in the works of making animated movies for the current conditions part.
Tell me what you think! :)
Nice work B)

Here are my WeatherStar XL animated Icons that I made in AE that are in Transparent AVI format. There are only the Sun, Rain, and snow icons. The Thunderstorm and Ice icons will be done in a few days. Another thing is that they can Only be used in After Effects, not PPT. They are not transparent in Powerpoint and the GIFS look horrible and are also not transparent if you convert them.. Sorry for the inconvenience. :hmm: There is no way to get them in to PPT properly..
Here's the link: www.cwlweathernetwork.net/XL icons_animated.zip (http://www.cwlweathernetwork.net/XL icons_animated.zip)
The icons are Courtesy of The Weather Channel Interactive and Micheal's Edited Icons.
Enjoy!

Are you making fun of my Animated XL Icons? :P :doh2:

Fantastic icons!! Maybe now, people will stop bugging me for mine. :worship:

Neat!

That looks just like the real thing! 10/10

I decided to be a little creative since someone asked me if my XL had traffic reports. What if it did? Here's what I think it would look like if the XL did have traffic reports.

Great drawings!!

Here's the updated set of icons that I've been working on in the past couple of weeks.
Set one: http://www.cwlweathernetwork.net/WS%20XL%20Icons_Animated_One.zip (http://www.cwlweathernetwork.net/WS%20XL%20Icons_Animated_One.zip)
Set two: http://www.cwlweathernetwork.net/WSXL%20Icons_Animated_Two.zip (http://www.cwlweathernetwork.net/WSXL%20Icons_Animated_Two.zip)
These files do contain the same icons as the last set, they are just tweaked and updated ones.
Also, the third part will come tomorrow since I have no time to upload these huge zip files.
Enjoy! :)
Robert
-
awesome
question... they're playing with inverted colors and all wrong in Windows Media Player on Vista... is there something I did or am doing wrong?
EDIT: I figured out what it was. I had to disable one of the codecs that was installed on my laptop for it to play correctly. So all better :)
-
Here's the last part of the set: http://www.cwlweathernetwork.net/WS XL Animated_ Three.zip
(http://www.cwlweathernetwork.net/WS XL Animated_ Three.zip)
All the icons that were animated by me are from the icons from The Weather Channel Interactive.
Enjoy!

Nice job!
5 out of 5 stars!

Here are some maps that I custom made in PS. One's the XL v3 map, the other's a 4000 map. This is just my first try so the colors may be a little off from the actual XL map. Also, I'm taking requests. So if anyone wants me to make a forecast map or a radar map, just holler. These only take a few minutes to make so I have no problem.
Just a note, I can only do local maps. Like the regional forecast maps or local and regional radar maps. I'm not able to make maps with a large view, like the satellite radar map on the IS or anything like that.
Robert
-
Awesome!
-
Thanks!
-
Nice job! I even like your XL map!
-
I used your map on some concepts....only good maps I could use.
-
Excelent
-
Nice job on the local news graffics!
-
Great work with the graphics. What did you use to get the 3D peacock, the chromed peacock and the multi-layered color spectrum?
-
Awesome work, Robert.
There is a site I want you to check and I openly invited everyone here on TWC Today to check it out as well.
http://www.yabbers.com/protv/index.php?mforum=protv (http://www.yabbers.com/protv/index.php?mforum=protv)
I have seen alot of great graphics and I think that you and others people might be a great fit on this site. Look for American Media Group on there. That is me.

Thanks! I used PowerPoint to make the 3D Peacock with the 3D feature
(*You have to have a font that has TV news logos. I found a font set on tvnewstalk.net somewhere a while back that has TV news logos. Not sure where though.)
Then I messed with the filter settings in photoshop. (Used the filter chrome effect.. located in Filter -> Sketch -> Chrome) and then messed around with the blending effects. (I used the overlay blend) and then put the layers on top of each other. (I put 4 layers of the chromed peacock on top of each other). The multi-colored spectrum was really hard. I used the round brush with 0% hardness and transformed it into somewhat of a line like beam and then colored and duplicated it with different colors. That was the most challenging part of making those graphics. If you anyone else need any more help.. just PM me! B)

Nice job! Can you please upload the raw WxScan backgrounds from all of the segments?

Just a little something I'm working on. WeatherScan Local V1 Concept:

FINALLY! Got my new PC built after months and months of never ending issues and I was able save some files from my old laptop which died a few months ago.. and this means I'm back to making emulations. Here's what I've done so far in photoshop. Comments and feedback welcomed! :)
-
Nice job! :cool3:

What effect did you use to make the forecast animation part fuzzy like that?

I used the eraser tool in photoshop and made the edges soft on the brush.
-
Not TWC, but a Hearst concept I've been working on for a bit now.
-
What program are you using for the 3D text, logos and swooshes?? I enjoy it a heck of a lot!

I used PowerPoint 2007 to make the 3D text and then saved them as a PNG image and imported them into photoshop and edited it in there with lighting and color effects.
-
Very nice!
-
Had nothing else to do.. lol.
-
yes, that image is accurate in saying that TWC in HD was available until the LDA ;)
but yes, it should be where, not were. Sorry, Robert.

Got really bored today so I made an Air Quality screen as a part of a Weatherscan Local concept that I'm designing.

Not bad

Wow, I am incredibly impressed with the front page current conditions graphic! Especially the title bar and the appearance of the screen itself is impeccable.
Nice work!

My words exactly. Very good job Robert. :)

The new LDL's on TWC have really spurred a bunch of ideas on ldl concepts. Here's what I came up with so far... :)
What do you all think?
-
I like it!
-
Now THAT is an excellent next step for progression with TWC graphics. Let's hijack the computers and upload that :D
-
So much better than what TWC did!
-
I would take your design over TWC's design hands down.
-
I love this.
-
Very nice Rob! :)

They're not available anymore.. And I lost them on my old laptop that died over the summer and I was stupid enough to not back them up.. Sorry. :hmm:
-
Does any one have them?
-
i do but i wont give them out without owner permission
-
CHEEZEBALLS!!!
Which animated set are we talking about? Sounds fun!
-
All 3. :)
-
Robert, can we have permission to re-post them?

Got bored this evening.. Made an improved version of the TWC HD open from 2008..

I don't know what you're talking about but quit repeating yourself. Repeating the question won't get you a different answer.

Robert has given me permission to reupload the animated XL icons.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K1EM0QJ4 (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K1EM0QJ4)
It's a .7z file so you will need WinRAR or a similar program and once extracted you need to extract the .rar's. ;)
NOTE/DISCLAIMER: These are pretty much useless for emulations unless you have Adobe Premiere or Adobe After Effects. You can still use them for viewing purposes.
-
Been dusting off my graphic design skills... Here's a preview of what I've been working on the past couple days. There might be some spelling errors and whatnot, this is just a straight off the press preview. Tell me what you all think! :)
-
Very nice!
-
Wow Robert, this is EXCELLENT! This is what TWC's IS2 should really look like, to match the current HD National Feed. Hope to see more soon. :)
-
Nice work! :)
-
Looks great! I love the real HD feed background! It would fit perfectly on TWCHD!
-
You have some mad skills!
-
Wow Robert, it looks awesome! I can tell you don't like the cheesepuffs. :P
-
Thanks guys! Hopefully I'll have more time to do more in the future. Still have to edit some things around and stuff (:
-
Welp since Thanksgiving is around the corner and I have a bit more time on my hands, I'm able to mess around with graphics again :) Here's a little something I came up with out of sheer boredom.
Edit: there might be a few errors, ex: I forgot to put the current condition statement below the icons lol.

You should have heard the gasp I made at first glance with this!!! Excellent work, Robert! Very attractive graphics.

Thanks for the compliments guys! :) Guess I haven't really lost my touch for graphics design over the years away from Photoshop. Here's an updated CC screen with a map of the location in the background and a few other things added.
