To answer your question, it may take a year or so (wanna make sure they're close to perfect), but yeah I'd do it if I have some free time on my hands.

While I've still yet to create my own icon set, I decided to fiddle around with weather.com's new android-like icons. Not sure how the "...and Windy" ones would turn out, but let's see.
