Title: engineer's attempts at Artwork
Post by: engineer on May 19, 2008, 02:14:17 AM
While my specialty is texturing things like firearms and other items for video games, I decided to apply some of my limited Photoshop experience to making a "dream STAR"- that is, a STAR unit that incorporates factors from different STAR units that I find to be visually pleasing. Heck, you'll probably find a little bit from all of the STAR's here when i'm finished.

Having said that, this is an attempt at a night time LF w/ appropriate background. The rain icon is a fusion of the XL and current IntelliStar icons, and the LDL is a recreation of the current one as seen on Satellite and current IS units. As you can see, it is nowhere near complete. You'll see it evolve and take on a much more "complete" feel as time goes on.

As the image is large, I had to link it so it would not be a problem on smaller screens (I run 1280x1024)

Current plans on this image are to flesh it out and make tewaks as needed. Might add a visible moon that shows the current phase, but I don't know.

Update 1: Added "Current Conditions" header with 4000-esque gradient, tweaked text/image "windows".

Update 3: Edited time, completed LDL, added location, added the little circle thing to the temperature. It begins to resemble an actual CC frame.

I don't know why I didn't edit the first post to begin with. Anyway, new update.

You, and the WeatherStar 4000, cannot grasp the true form of Tropical Storm Giygas' rain bands!

(This image had been floating around in my head a week or two before Fay even reached Florida landed.)
